Continue ReadingSavoie is a very dynamic runner that can catch the ball out of the backfield, and run tough in-between the tackles as needed and has put together a very nice senior season. Leading Red Mountain to a stellar season, especially this post season and heading to face off against Brophy College Prep, Savoie had a impressive performance last week against Pinnacle. He erupted for 120+ yards and two touchdowns, while adding multiple receptions out of the backfield and showing some open field burst and short area quickness in-between the tackles. He is a next level caliber back at the D3+ level, and is deserving of some roster spot opportunities once his prep career is over.
In some small school action at the 2-A level, the senior signal caller had a shoot out against Pima in a semi-final game and lose a close but after putting up just under 50 points in the contest and throwing for 5 touchdowns in the narrow loss. Neill has had a very productive and impressive statistical season and held two early offers to UNLV, and Southeast Missouri State but remains uncommitted. He has strong mechanics with a quick release, live arm downfield and good pocket awareness/mobility while able to throw on the run and still hit receivers in stride. As we close in on national signing day, he should be one of the best available quarterbacks across the state, and will be one to watch for as to where he winds up at the collegiate level.

Smart is a bit undersized at the linebacker position, but is a true banger in the box with good downfield speed, range and covers a ton of ground in the open field both when defending the outside run and pass. He has a quick trigger, diagnosis plays quickly and closes in with proper angles to ball carriers while able to take down bigger backs as well. The two-way athlete had a impressive performance in a narrow win over San Tan, going for 50+ rushing yards and two scores, while adding another 8+ tackles on defense. Pima is set up to play Scottsdale Christian on Saturday night in the 2-A finals.
