The scope of the playoffs has always been win or go home, with the result of each game being the last of the season for one of the teams. For the seniors on those teams, earning the opportunity to play at the next level can come from having impressive playoff performances.
This report will look at five prospects from the 2024 class who ended their high school careers with solid showings in the posteason.
rnJoyce-Fairley is a talented athlete whose under-the-radar status makes him a steal. He finished his high school career with an impressive performance that helped his team make a run in the playoffs. His athleticism and playmaking abilities make him a standout on the field, but the fluidity in his movements and explosive speed make him a captivating prospect.
rnJoyce-Fairley is a gifted runner who does a fantastic job of reading the field and timing his speed to flow through creases and outrun everyone on the field, which explains his handful of touchdowns as a special teams return man. His skill set as a receiver makes him an ideal candidate for any program looking to add legitimate firepower to their pass game.
rnBeing a plug-and-play athlete has also landed Joyce-Fairly on the defensive side of the ball as a safety. He plays with good pad level in his pedals and has fluid hips, mixing perfectly with his athleticism and making him a viable candidate for a defensive roster looking to add depth to the defensive back group. Joyce-Fairley is still a low flyer on the recruiting radar with the potential to be a difference-maker at the next level, putting him on the list of names to offer now.
Highlights
Nick Long
Nick Long
Long is a ferocious linebacker who brings impressive speed and physicality to the box. He is the type of player who flies around the field with a knack for making plays near the ball, especially when blitzing from the edge. As a pass rusher, Long’s speed quickly lands him in the backfield and enables him to chase down the ball carrier, resulting in tackles for loss, sacks, or errored throws. He is also a bruising hitter with outstanding strength and power. Long played an integral part in a playoff defense, making him a worthy pick-up for a college program.
Anthony Saez
Anthony Saez
rnSaez is a lesser-known player who made a significant impact on a dominant team that reached the quarterfinals of the postseason. His get-off is unmatched, making him a legitimate problem for offensive backfields. His ability to execute stunts with explosive speed and bad intentions made all the difference for Legend’s defense. For what he may lack in size, he more than made up for with his athleticism and determination.
rnSaez is a nose guard who is quick enough to shoot by the offensive line before they get into their stances and strong enough to overpower double teams to finish the play near the ball. There are a lot of underrecruited players who deserve more attention, and Saez is proof that among them are sleeping giants waiting for an opportunity to make a difference at the next level.
rnNicholson has been one of the more electrifying athletes in the state during the past couple of years. The multi-use athlete has built a reputation as a dangerous return man, a must-key wide receiver, and a scrappy cornerback who is tough to beat. Regardless of where he lines up, Nicholson is a playmaker.
rnHis abilities as a return man on special teams bring tremendous upside to his stock value as a prospect. He has an elusive running style and explosive acceleration, making him a returner who can flip the field and set the offense up with good starting positions. Nicholson is another prospect with the potential to be a steal as a recruit.
Hines is another special talent with the potential to be a viable addition to a college team. As the second-leading receiver for a high-powered offense in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, he proved himself worthy of closer looks by college programs. He is a speedster who creates separation with his shifty releases and snappy breaks. What helps Hines to stand out on the field are his speed and elusiveness. His ability to make multiple defenders miss, mixed with his breakaway speed, makes him an athlete who is one missed tackle away from breaking one loose. Hines is another underrecruited player who could become a dangerous playmaker at the next level.
