ELBA
Elba had a massive game to open up the postseason that featured them dominating the ground game to win 70-8 against University Charter.
QB Brayden Johnson took care of the ball really well throughout the whole game and made some splash plays, completing both of his 2 pass attempts for 79 yards and 1 touchdown. In addition to throwing the ball, Johnson was also able to run around and make some plays outside the pocket as well, carrying the ball 4 times for 29 yards and another touchdown.
RB Alvin Henderson Alvin Henderson 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Elba | 2025 State AL had, of course, another unbelievable day for his team on both offense and special teams that featured him accounting for 7 total touchdowns. Throughout the game, Henderson carried the ball 6 times for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns and he was also able to haul in one reception for 39 yards and a touchdown as well. On special teams, Henderson had a massive impact as well and he was able to return both a kickoff and punt back to the endzone.
RB Jerod Anderson, a junior running back, had himself a solid day as the number two back behind Henderson. Anderson has some really good vision and was able to maneuver around the field really well on the limited carries he got. In total, Anderson carried the ball 3 times for 46 yards and a touchdown as well.
HEWITT TRUSSVILLE
Hewitt Trussville had a huge game last week against Bob Jones that they won 56-14. All throughout the game Hewitt Trussville’s offense was able to effectively run and pass the ball all over the field.
QB Peyton Floyd Peyton Floyd 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Hewitt-Trussvile | 2024 State AL was incredibly efficient in the team’s win- he didn’t put the ball in harm’s way and was able to find the endzone a few times as well. Floyd is a really decisive and accurate passer, which he has shown all season, but he started off their playoff run in the best way possible with how well he was able to move the ball. In total, Floyd completed 10/12 attempts for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns.
RB Kennedy Mitchell, one of Hewitt Trussville’s senior running backs, exploded out of the backfield for them in the victory- he made a ton happen off just a few attempts and was a huge asset in their rushing attack. Mithcell broke off some big-time runs throughout the game that really helped separate them from Bob Jones. In total, Mitchell ended up recording just 4 carries for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns.
RB James Kelly was another one of Hewitt Trussville’s dominant running backs in this matchup and had himself a big day. Kelly made the most of his opportunities and the sophomore was able to carry the ball just 3 times for 73 yards and a touchdown as well.
MONTGOMERY CATHOLIC
Montgomery Catholic took on West Blocton last Friday night and had a decisive 48-7 win to advance to the next round.
QB Caleb McCreary Caleb McCreary 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Montgomery Catholic School | 2024 State AL , Montgomery Catholic’s senior quarterback has been unbelievable throughout his career for them. Last week, in the first round he had another fantastic performance where he ended up completing 8/11 passing attempts for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns and also carried the ball 2 times for 44 yards and another touchdown as well. Troy is getting themself a true dual-threat weapon in their 2024 class!
WR JJ Williams, a sophomore, was a huge threat throughout this game as both a rusher and receiver. Williams had a productive day on the ground by recording 54 yards off 3 carries but was also a huge threat downfield for Caleb McCreary Caleb McCreary 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Montgomery Catholic School | 2024 State AL , as he hauled in 4 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown as well.
RB Giovani Hayner had himself a big day on the ground when his number was called. The junior maximized each carry and ended up carrying the ball 8 times for 82 yards, consistently moving the chains for his offense.
