Kyle Koontz Kyle Koontz 6’4″ | 225 lbs | TE Douglas | 2024 State NV may be the most sought after uncommitted tight end in Nevada. Kyle has visited Utah Tech and Sacramento State this fall. He also has received a lot of interest from the University of Nevada, so don’t be surprised when more schools surrounding northern Nevada recruit the great-sized tight end this winter. Coaches like Kyle’s ability to separate when aligned in the slot or out wide. Kyle’s great combination of length and athleticism allows him to elevate over defenders and make all the tough catches. Good balance, strength, and quickness allows Kyle to shake defenders and create after the catch in a variety of ways.
Chris Shakespeare
Chris Shakespeare
Chris Shakespeare may be one the most underrated playmakers in northern Nevada. Chris has been to a Southern Utah camp in the past, but I am surprised more schools in the region have not shown interest. Chris’ next level long speed shows shaking press defenders at the line of scrimmage then creating vertical separation with ease after stacking corners in man coverage. Good strength, balance, and acceleration allows Chris to explode through contact and create in traffic. Solid hands and good tracking ability shows consistently adjusting to balls located outside of his frame.
Preston Chamberlin Preston Chamberlin 6’3″ | 220 lbs | TE Elko | 2024 State NV is one of the most versatile tight ends in northern Nevada. Preston received an offer from Caroll College in October, and I would not be surprised to see more schools come in late to his recruitment this winter. Good speed and athleticism shows navigating through traffic in the box and creating vertical separation when aligned on the line of scrimmage. Good vision and lateral quickness allows Preston to create in small spaces with the ball in his hands. Strong hands, good length, and tracking ability highlights Preston’s ability to be a reliable target in traffic.
Highlights
Jack Thow Jack Thow 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Green Valley | 2024 State NV is a rising senior passer out of Clark County. Jack has visited Yale in the past, but I am surprised to see his regional recruitment stay quiet this fall. Be on the lookout for Jack to receive more attention from schools surrounding Nevada this winter. Jack’s good combination of accuracy and anticipation shows perfectly leading receivers vertically through holes in defenses’ zones. A good combination of toughness and decision-making shows when bad snaps force Jack to stand tall and deliver downfield throws amidst pressure in the pocket. Coaches like Jack’s calm demeanor and good vision that gets displayed finding the open receiver when forced out of the pocket.
JJ Buchanan JJ Buchanan 6’4″ | 200 lbs | ATH Coronado | 2025 State NV is set to be a top playmaker next season. JJ has received interest from UNLV this fall and I would expect offers from outside the state to roll in before his senior year gets here. Good balance and strength shows running through defenders and staying upright near the sidelines as a ball carrier. JJ’s next level lateral quickness gets displayed shaking defenders in the open field with a hesitation move. JJ’s rare combination of size, speed, and athleticism gets displayed setting up defenders in off coverage then blowing by them to gain vertical separation.
