Continue ReadingProbably a mistake by me not to pick Alex for the District 3 Playoff top players. Alex has had a great year and career for Steelton-Highspire as he attempts to win back-to-back State Titles. Erby is on a loaded team with talent all over the place, but he is the player who gets them the ball. Erby is a Navy commit, they are getting a good player.
Highlights
Bryce Staretz Bryce Staretz 6’1″ | 215 lbs | RB Cumberland Valley | 2024 State PA is a talented player who I saw put on a clinic at running back against Manheim Township. The kid is a bully ball at running back. He is physical, and tough to bring down. He constantly makes plays when his team needs it. Sratetz carried Cumberland Valley at times since they played 4 quarterbacks in the year. He left it all on the field in his last game.
Highlights
Max Tipton Max Tipton 6’2″ | DL Wyomissing | 2025 State PA starts at both the offensive and defensive line for Wyomissing. He played a great game against Danville as he helped keep contain against Danville’s quarterback and keep him in the pocket. He also plays offensive line for Wyomissing.
Highlights
Sam Steffey Sam Steffey 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Cocalico | 2024 State PA and Dane Horning Dane Horning 5'8" | 180 lbs | ATH Cocalico | 2026 State PA are the fullbacks for the Cocalico offense. In Cocalio’s offense, the fullback is the difference maker. Sam Steffey Sam Steffey 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Cocalico | 2024 State PA is the returning starter but got hurt and Dane Horning Dane Horning 5'8" | 180 lbs | ATH Cocalico | 2026 State PA was able to play in his spot for several weeks. They both are a great 1-2 punch for Cocalico. Horning is a Sophomore so he be back next year to be the lead fullback.
Quincy Brannon Quincy Brannon 5’11” | 175 lbs | ATH Harrisburg | 2025 State PA is a big reason for Harrisburg’s success this year. Brannon plays defensive back and shows good coverage skills. He also shows a good ability to come upfield and make tackles in the open field. Brannon was named 1st team Defensive Back for the Mid-Penn Conference.
Sam McCracken Sam McCracken 6’1″ | 205 lbs | QB Ephrata | 2024 State PA made a ton of plays in the passing game for Ephrata on their three-game winning streak in the playoffs. Against Garden Spot, he was 16-28, 277 yards and 4 touchdowns. Against Hershey, he was 10-12, 187 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. He played smart, and efficient and made plays for his team when he needed to.
I have written about Ronald Burnette a few times as he has been a key player for Steelton-Highspire. In a lot of ways, Burnette is the most underrated prospect on Steelton. He is the constant bell-cow for Steelton at running back. He is a physical tough running back who gains extra yards by running for them. Burnette has a motor that never stops when he is running and he shows good speed when he can break away from defenders.
