Mater Dei and St. John Bosco played each other for the championship for the sixth time in seven seasons.
The offenses for both teams didn’t particularly shine, but here are some players who were impactful on the offensive side of the ball. Mater Dei won the game 35-7 for its 13th CIF championship in school-history.
MATER DEI
The numbers didn’t jump off the page for Davison, but he had two of the biggest runs of the game. He had just 41 yards on 9 carries, but had a 10-yard run on a fourth down conversion and a touchdown run.
Davison was injured after the first matchup between the two schools and the Mater Dei backfield has battled injuries this season, but he made his presence felt last Friday.
Highlights
Kayden Dixon-Wyatt Kayden Dixon-Wyatt 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Mater Dei | 2026 State CA only had three catches in the game but had the biggest one, a 44-yard touchdown reception.
He beat a Division 1 committed cornerback in man coverage and made a contested catch which was the most impressive of the game.
Mater Dei’s offensive line was bullied in the first half but adjusted. The adjustments worked and quarterback Elijah Brown Elijah Brown 6’2″ | 180 lbs | DB Narbonne | 2024 State CA was untouched in the second half.
Carter and other tackle Brandon Baker Brandon Baker 6’5″ | 290 lbs | OL Mater Dei | 2024 State CA did a good job protecting the edges. Christian Fallani got better as the game went on at center. Guards Sione Tohi Sione Tohi 6’4″ | 300 lbs | OL Mater Dei | 2025 State CA and Jeremiah Ponce Jeremiah Ponce 6’4″ | 300 lbs | OL Mater Dei | 2026 State CA picked up blitzes well in the second half.
ST. JOHN BOSCO
Maher was somewhat of a safety blanket for Bosco quarterback Caleb Sanchez Caleb Sanchez 6’4″ | 225 lbs | QB St. John Bosco | 2024 State CA and had the biggest play of the game for Bosco’s offense.
He isn’t afraid to run routes over the middle and can make plays after the catch.
Highlights
Bosco’s offensive line did not have a great game, but Adrain Tavui and King Large King Large 6’5″ | 295 lbs | OL St. John Bosco | 2024 State CA did a nice job protecting the edge.
The pressure on Bosco’s quarterback was created by Mater Dei’s interior defensive line and inside blitzes. Tavui and Large for the most part slowed down the edge rush of Mater Dei.
