Each week, we'll give a quick update of some of the notable outcomes and top performers in each division and potential matchups to watch in the next round.

Biggest upset by seeds: No. 25 Northshore over No. 8 West Monroe, 9-7.

Other upsets: No. 21 Mandeville over No. 12 Sam Houston, 50-36; No. 18 Central (Baton Rouge) over No. 15 East St. John, 43-15.

Closest game: No. 25 Northshore over No. 8 West Monroe, 9-7.

Biggest margin: No. 7 Dutchtown over No. 26 South Lafourche, 42-0.

Biggest surprise: No. 25 Northshore over No. 8 West Monroe, 9-7.

Top performers: 2024 Chalmette QB [player_tooltip player_id='1204731' first='Ethan' last='Couvillion'], 2024 Salmen RB [player_tooltip player_id='904082' first='Jacobi' last='Jefferson'], 2025 Mandeville RB [player_tooltip player_id='710077' first='Nate' last='Sheppard'].

Other notes: No. 25 Northshore brought a talented and capable (obviously) team from an always-competitive district north to No. 8 West Monroe, but the Panthers' upset carries the newsworthiness of handing the Rebels their first first-round loss in 29 years. And while adjustments to the LHSAA playoff rules have made the potential for a lower seed to earn home-field advantage an drastically rarer opportunity than has traditionally been the case, Northshore and No. 21 Mandeville — after its upset of No. 12 Sam Houston — will now both enjoy that in their second-round matchups against No. 9 Walker and No. 5 St. Amant, respectively.

Intriguing second-round matchup: No. 1 Ruston vs. No. 16 Westgate.

Most intriguing possible quarterfinal matchup: No. 3 Destrehan vs. No. 6 Zachary.
