[player_tooltip player_id='953600' first='Kyle' last='Sledge Jr.'] did it by being voted the Kentucky Middle School Football Association (KYMSFA) 8th Grade, Division 1, Region 1 Player of the Year. The Bowling Green Junior High ATH (athlete) was a nominee for the award a year ago on the seventh-grade level, but finished the story this year. The dynamic offensive weapon was poised for a big 2023 season after turning heads as a member of the Kentucky Future Stars this past summer. The steady rise has been in the making for the past 365 days, specifically after winning the Offensive MVP award at the KYMSFA All-Star Classic last November. Sledge Jr. and his talents will be on display at the u003ca href=u0022https://events.prepredzone.com/e/950/register/southeast-middle-school-camp-tnu0022u003ePrep Redzone Next Middle School Camp in Tennesseeu003c/au003e on January 6th.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["1077471"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"I'd be lying if I said I knew how often, if ever, a player has been named the Regional Player of the Year as both as seventh-grader and an eighth-grader, but that's the case with Oldham County's [player_tooltip player_id='1077471' first='Javy' last='Tucker']. A KYMSFA All-Star a year ago, the dual-threat, righty quarterback has been an important piece of the Oldham County program over the last two seasons. I don't have specific height and weight for Tucker, but he looks to have really stretched out over the last calendar year. He's a threat to burn defenses with arm and legs, doing so time and time again during the last two years. It's that same athleticism that has helped him find success on the basketball court and baseball diamond as well. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops as he presumably moves on to high school.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["953050"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"If you've followed Kentucky Middle School football over the past few years, you've seen the Woodford County program become alive with great coaching and some extremely talented players. Players like 2028 standouts [player_tooltip player_id='478102' first='Bode' last='Darland'], [player_tooltip player_id='953020' first='Neo' last='Davis-Jones'] and [player_tooltip player_id='953009' first='Dylan' last='Branson'] have propelled the Yellowjackets this season and Woodford County is set to play in the state semi-finals this weekend. With that said, it's been the record-obliterating season of [player_tooltip player_id='953050' first='Chris' last='Lucas'] that earned him the 8th Grade, Division 1, Region 3 Player of the Year. Lucas, a shifty running back who also gets it done in the return game, has been nothing short of dominant over the last two season. For an example of just how special a season he had in 2023, in a 72-0 victory in Round 2 of the state playoffs in mid-October, Lucas broke his own school record by finding the end zone eight times in a single game. You read that rightu002du002deight times! He finished that day with six rushing touchdowns, one punt return for a score and a kick return for a tuddy. Woah.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1069847"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Rounding out the KYMSFA D1 Regional Player Of The Year award winners, Perry County Central's [player_tooltip player_id='1069847' first='Kaiden' last='Gibson'] took home the honor in Region 4. At this point, he's not going to win any contests for size but his ability speaks for itself on film. An Honorable Mention Regional Player Of The Year nod a year ago as a seventh-grader, he tore up the turf in every game during this eighth-grade season. Running behind a solid offensive line, Gibson used his speed and darting running style to get beyond the line of scrimmage before the time the defense even reacted to the snap. Also a point guard on the hardwood, you can see the same quickness and explosion on the football field. Again, not the biggest kid in the world, but he's also significantly tougher than one would think by simply just looking at his stature. Gibson is not afraid to throw a stiff-arm into the grill of a would-be tackler. He'll be one to watch develop as the size comes on.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":4,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65424ddd0ad41"} /-->
