This past Wednesday I had a chance to attend the HCAA (Halton Catholic Region) Championship that featured the No.3 Corpus Christi Longhorns against the No.15 Holy Trinity Titans. The game was filled with some of Ontario's and Canada's top prospects. Although the game got out of hand in the first half, both teams had some super stars on both sides of the ball. In today's scouting report, we breakdown the top performers from the HCAA Championship game.

Moore is a game breaker on both sides of the ball, but in the Championship, the Longhorns staff knew they needed to get the ball in their playmakers hands early and often. Standing in at 6'0, 170 pounds Moore opened the first series hauling in a 52 yard TD reception on a corner route that saw him blow past coverage stemming the strong safety inside before releasing to the back corner of the end zone putting Corpus Christi up 7-0 early. After a great defensive stand by the Longhorns, Holy Trinity made a mistake by allowing Moore to catch the punt before he caught the edge of the field and took off for a 65 yard punt return score to make it 14-0 Horns. If that wasn't enough, the first half ended 37-0 seeing Moore contribute to four of the five touchdowns scored in the first half hauling in another 45 yard deep shot and 57 yard strike. Moore also managed to put up 37 yards rushing on two end around plays. This was all in the first half alone, but that's all that was needed on the day by the nation's top five receiver.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"Ryan Tharby","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"6'4u0022","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"2496","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"Corpus Christi","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"Burlington Stampeders","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_1_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Looking down the enormous No.3 Longhorns roster you'll notice a massive specimen sporting the No.45. That would be Team Ontario Middle Linebacker Ryan Tharby. At 6'4, 235-pounds. Tharby plays the game as big as he seems when he's out there. From blowing up interior gaps, to dropping back into coverage to cover the hook/curl and drag routes underneath the 2nd level, Tharby is a legit next level MLB. Tharby made his presence felt early tallying two sacks on interior blitz packages in the first two drives as well as breaking up two passes on third and short. Tharby is coming off a season that saw him record 33 solo tackles, 9 TFL's, 4.5 sacks, and 4 INT's. He's a do it all MLB and he absolutely was a standout in the HCAA Championship. As a team captain he will look to keep the Longhorns on pace next week as they will head outside of their region to play the Hamilton Catholic Champion to see who will play for the Provincial title.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["992802"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Holy Trinity absolutely had their hands full with the Longhorns and one of my top three receivers in the country [player_tooltip player_id='992802' first='Peter' last='Cartwright'] was forced to get a little uncomfortable for their Championship matchup. Cartwright a true Athlete playing both sides of the ball got the news following their semi final win that their starting QB was done the season. As the back up, Cartwright stepped into a Championship game after not taking a starting snap all season and ran a wildcat offense. Like usual he played with a ton of poise and his compete level was through the roof. That offense tends to be as productive as Cartwright is in the game and unfortunately with him not getting the respect of the opposing teams defense out of the slot, the Longhorns knew they could send the house at him all game. Kudos to Cartwright as he managed to go for 75 yards rushing and 89 yards passing on the day but it was written in the sand how this game would go once the Titans QB was declared out for the game. Cartwright remained a major standout though.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"Preston Heroux","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"5'10u0022","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"2411","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"Corpus Christi","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"Burlington Stampeders","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_3_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"I mentioned in the first half that Moore picked up four of the five touchdowns. However, the 5th was scored by No. 7, another true athlete senior H Back and safety Preston Heroux. Heroux, they tend to use in a lot of flow and mesh concepts on offense but the Longhorns also have probably one of the most imposing fronts in Canadian High School football. On the touchdown Heroux scored, Corpus went into their “truck” package or “big” package from midfield and ran Heroux four straight times before he finally took the fourth carry in from 18 yards out. Heroux battled from both sides of the ball on the day also with 1 INT, 4 PBU's, and 7 tackles. Heroux is the type of player who is always going to be around the ball, he's got a nose for just finding it whether the flow of the game is moving away from him or not. There was a ton to like about the stocky H-Back, and in Wednesday's game he was certainly a standout.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_4_player_details_player_name":"Dylan Tharby","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_4_player_details_graduating_class":"2025","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_4_player_details_height":"6'0u0022","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_4_player_details_position":"2496","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_4_player_details_school":"Corpus Christi","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_4_player_details_club_team":"Burlington Stampeders","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_4_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_4_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"I thought a couple other guys would've made this list and they're definitely honourable mentions as the best one two punch in Canada with class of 2025 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1150131' first='Nick' last='Honchar'] and 2024 Xavier Niles. Honchar is my No.1 2025 RB in Canada and Niles a top 10 nation wide. But on Wednesday these guys surprisingly did not steal the show. The biggest standout for me in the whole game was 2025 OLB younger brother of Ryan Tharby, Dylan Tharby. The brother duo was dominant on Wednesday. It felt like on every tackle made by the Longhorns you were hearing “Tharby on the tackle” and that's because Dylan and Ryan were wreaking havoc all over that field. Dylan unlike his brother, does not have the that imposing 6'4, 235-pound size rather he's about 6'0, 210-pounds and is an absolute brawler. When you talk about players who have a “motor” to play the game Dylan Tharby is one of those guys. He recorded 11 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 7 QB pressures and he may have recovered the fumble it was tough to confirm in the pile. But by far the most dominant performance of the day was by Tharby. He's a true strong side linebacker who can drop in coverage to the flats when needed but can set outside containment in the run game better than any other OLB I've scouted across Canada this season. It was a lot of fun to watch and is why he was my player of the HCAA Championship game.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-654e771679059"} /-->
