This is the second of three anticipated reports featuring prospects from the Kansas state title games.
The state championship games in Classes 3A and 2A feature battles between two undefeated teams, while the 1A game could end up being one of the most tightly competed games of the weekend.
Here is a look at the state games that will be played in Hutchinson, Salina, and Hays on November 25.
Class 3A @ Hutchinson: Cheney (12-0) vs Hayden (12-0) – The Hayden Wildcats have put together one of the quietest undefeated runs in the state of Kansas. Washburn Rural got most of the headlines in Topeka this season, while Bill Arnold’s Hayden squad has been business as usual. Hayden’s defense has pitched four shutouts this season and the most impressive win on the program’s resume is a 64-19 pounding of Parsons. Cheney, on the other hand, has had one of the most historic seasons ever. The Cardinals ended Andale’s longest win streak in the nation and then beat the Indians again in the sub-state round. Cheney’s offense is averaging 34.5 points per game in the playoffs.

Class 2A @ Salina: Hoisington (12-0) vs Nemaha Central (12-0) – Nemaha has an impressive resume heading into the title game. The Thunder has two wins over rival Sabetha and a win over Class 3A Holton. Hoisington only has one regular season game with a point advantage of less than 10. Jeff County’s only regular season loss game to St. Mary’s in a one-sided affair. The Chargers have beaten a who’s who in programs to reach the title game. Jefferson County has wins over Centralia, Olpe, and Colgan who are all legist goats in Class 1A.
