The importance of first impressions is something that has been preached for years and with the arrival of the 2027 watchlist, I couldn’t agree more. In this series, I will be introducing you all to some of the new names from the ’27 watchlist.
Make yourself familiar with these names because I am positive we will be hearing more from them in the upcoming years.

Like clockwork, Papillion-La Vista has another great group of OL/DL prospects. Freshman Peyton Francis Peyton Francis 6’0″ | 210 lbs | OL Papillion-La Vista | 2027 NE looks to be a problem for opposing lineman for years to come. What I really like about Peyton’s game is his violent side. He’s very physical with great, violent use of hands to disengage from blocks. Francis tracks the ball very well and has a great pursuit to make the stop. Peyton does a great job sealing the edge on Tun plays and has the athleticism to contain scrambling QBs. Lots to like about this rising Monarch!

Lincoln Southeast’s crop of 2027 prospects is shaping up to be a good one! Another freshman that was quick to make his presence known is TE Mason Cotton Mason Cotton 6’3″ | 205 lbs | TE Lincoln Southeast | 2027 NE -Mehta, who ended the season second in team receiving yards. Mason finished up with 10 receptions for 192 yards and a receiving touchdown. The impressive part is his average of 19 yards per reception, showing that he can break open for big gains. He has great size at 6’3” and 205 pounds and will only continue to get bigger and stronger. Very impressive prospect with a massive ceiling.
6-man football has another towering Frey to worry about for the next three seasons. Wyatt Frey Wyatt Frey 6’4″ | 205 lbs | QB Lawrence-Nelson / Frey Family Academy | 2027 NE , younger brother of South Dakota commit Caden Frey Caden Frey 6’5″ | 220 lbs | TE Red Cloud / Frey Family Academy | 2024 State NE , quickly found himself on the field lighting up defenses. Wyatt torched defenses at an efficient rate, completing 112 of 183 (61%) passes for 1,546 yards and 31 touchdowns to 9 INTs. He has a very promising arm with a pretty solid deep ball that will only get stronger and more accurate as he continues to develop. 6-man football forces QBs to make quick decisions with the ball, which Wyatt does very well. He also shows a ton of toughness in the pocket, holding onto the ball until the best moment to throw it. Wyatt is signed up to attend the Stock Up showcase so I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs there.

Blair’s Ty Tessendorf Ty Tessendorf 6’3″ | 240 lbs | DL Blair | 2027 NE wasted no time inserting himself into the varsity lineup. Not only did Ty earn a varsity spot but he did so in one of the toughest positions to do as a freshman, offensive tackle. Tessendorf certainly doesn’t look like a freshman at 6’3″ and 240 pounds with the physicality and intensity to go with it. When watching Ty’s tape I really liked his mobility both laterally and his ability to get up to the second and even third level for blocks. He has a non-stop motor and stays looking for more work after he’s finished off one block. Good hand placement and footwork for his experience. A strong lower and upper body allow him to overpower defenders at the line of scrimmage without giving up positioning. As Ty continues to refine his game, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him emerge as one of the top prospects in the state by the time he’s a senior.
