After the retirement of a legendary Coach the Bishop Kelly Knights swung for the fences with their next hire taking Chris Culig away from 5A power Rocky Mountain and it paid off big time for the Knights as they are back at the top of mountain. Winning in a thrilling game over Hillcrest the Knights did what they have done all season which was lean on the legs of Peter Minnaert Peter Minnaert 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Bishop Kelly | 2024 State ID who rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns in the state championship game. Sophomore quarterback led the way in the passing game but the Knights were also helped out by Cooper Cammann who was a do it all player for them all season. Rakeem Johnson Rakeem Johnson 6'3" | 255 lbs | OL Bishop Kelly | 2024 State ID and Jackson Brody Jackson Brody 6'0" | 270 lbs | OL Bishop Kelly | 2024 State ID led the way up front for the Knights with their line play and did an excellent job opening up big holes for the Knights running backs. It helps to have a huge compliment of players especially guys like Sam Knell Sam Knell 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Bishop Kelly | 2024 State ID , William Sachse William Sachse 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Bishop Kelly | 2025 State ID , Trey Jorgensen Trey Jorgensen 5'11" | 195 lbs | LB Bishop Kelly | 2024 State ID and Alex Sullivan to help out all season in big ways. Coach Culig had his team rolling during the season with big win after big win and was able to cap off his first season at the helm with a state championship. The Knights were dominant all season but showed why they were considered by many as the top 4A all year and we would expect their running back to be in the conversation for player of the year in the 4A.
