Natural football player that projects as a Safety in college but has a versatile skillset that is effective in all three phases. At 6’0” 185 lbs. he’s got good speed and range to cover sideline to sideline. Does a good job seeing the whole field with good eye discipline and anticipation, processing his reads quickly to read and react. He’s got great feel for the game and instincts on both sides of the ball putting himself in position to make plays and be a difference maker. Strong in run support, he can walk down in the box to be a force player or be a reliable one on one open field tackler. Put up big numbers as a junior with 65 tackles on defense and over 1,000 scrimmage yards on offense. No offers yet but recruitment is building and should see increased attention this off season.
Highlights
A lot to like about Jayden’s skillset with his combination size, athleticism, and short area quickness. At 6’1” 185 lbs. he’s strong and physical at the POA and does a good job using his hands in coverage. Shows good ability in both press and off coverage to run with receivers at all three levels. Well coached, he’s patient with his reads and efficient with his footwork limiting wasted movement. Plus reactionary speed and change of direction to accelerate out of his breaks and make a play at the catch point. Aggressive tackler that brings strong contact but also does a good job breaking down in space and wrapping up to the ground. Under recruited at this point he made a big jump in the updated PRZ state rankings and has great upside and potential to play at the D1 level.
Instinctual safety prospect with ideal length/frame at 6’4” 195 lbs. and good growth potential. Possesses smooth athleticism with good natural movement skills. A strider with plus speed and lateral agility to be rangy in the secondary and cover distance with the ball in the air. Does a good job reading the QB and snapping his eyes to the receiver to take efficient angles of attack. Like his ability to turn and run accelerating out of his break to close space in both short and deep coverage. Hard hitting safety after the catch and in run support. Shows a good ability to play off blockers in the interior and to the boundary. Squeezes the lane and plays with leverage and explosion at the POA. Has all the physical ability and traits you look for in a D1 prospect with the positional versatility to possibly transition to OLB at the college level depending on development.
Salopek is a strong cover corner with great all-around game speed and change of direction. Good size/length for the position at 6’0” 165 lbs. His speed allows him to play press coverage and stay in phase at all three levels. Plays with good balance and leverage throughout the play from his back pedal to his transition. Smooth in the hips, he does a good job maintaining his cushion but understands when he needs to flip his hips to turn and run. Like his recovery speed and ability to close space with the ball in the air. Flashes good reactionary quickness and ball skills. He shows good route recognition and anticipation to jump routes at the short and intermediate level. He’s aggressive at the catch point and times out his break to effectively play the ball in the air without drawing a flag. He’s a competitor that should see his recruiting stock on the rise this off season.
