The senior quarterback from Highland Park showcased his dynamic playmaking ability throughout the season with both his arm and his legs. The dual-threat, 6’0 signal caller tallied 2,745 all-purpose yards and accounted for 36 total touchdowns. What makes Finfer elite is his the ability to extend plays with his legs. He is extremely difficult to contain in the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield when scrambling to find open receivers. He is also lethal in the QB run game and has the arm strength to make most throws across the field. Currently uncommitted, it won’t be long until Finfer finds a home.
Highlights
AJ Abrams
AJ Abrams
The stud wide receiver, and basketball star, from Eisenhower put together a monster season in his final campaign. Abrams is listed at 6’0 and possesses elite speed that makes him a home-run threat when split out at receiver and in the return game. His basketball skills also translate to the gridiron, as Abrams showcases fantastic body control that allows him to go up over defensive backs and come down with the ball on 50/50 passes. Abrams can really do it all, as this hidden gem will land on somebody’s radar soon enough.
Burburija, who excelled at both offensive and defensive line for Crystal Lake South this season, project to be a dominant defensive lineman in college. The 6’2, 265 lbs interior defensive lineman caused havoc all season, as he has a unique combination of size, strength, and quickness. He posted 92 tackles and 6 sacks in 9 games this season. As a 3-technique, 1-technique, or 0-technique, Burburija has the skills to disrupt the run game on every play. He also showcases polished pass rushing technique when matched up against opposing the center or guards. While Burburija has yet to find a home, it won’t be long before someone swoops in and signs this 6A All-State stud.
Jack Barnhart
Jack Barnhart
The 6’3, 240 lb defensive end was a monster on the edge for Champaign-area Centennial High School. Earning All-State Honorable Mention last season, Barnhart found himself on the 6A All-State Team this year. Deservedly so, as Barnhart displays tremendous physicality, strength, and bend. His film jumps out with his ability to play the run. Barnhart controls his gaps with strength and power and can quickly shed blocks and make tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. He also possesses a high motor and polished pass rush moves when pursuing the quarterback.
The Cary-Grove running back played a major role in the Trojans vaunted rushing attack, earning himself 6A All-State honors. The senior was known for breaking off long runs by luring opposing defenses to let their guard down after several 3 and 4 yard gains. Prio posted runs of 77, 69, 57, and 37 yards this year, showcasing his speed and shiftiness in the open field. But don’t be mistaken, Prio is also a physical runner who can sneak through any hole to gain extra yardage. The Cary-Grove back raced his way to a 6A State Championship this season and will soon be making an immediate impact for any college program that takes a chance on him.
