And for the second straight year since the perennial powers landed in the same district, Catholic (Baton Rouge) managed to navigate late-game drama to escape Zachary, this time by a 35-28 margin in an extra period on a pair of huge plays by two of its college prospects.
Daniel Beale | 6-2, 190 QB | Catholic (Baton Rouge) (2024)
The Louisiana (Lafayette) commit completed 11 of 20 passes for 211 yards — 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns to the Wright brothers Bradley and Brooks — but left more people talking about the impact he made with his legs with a pair of touchdowns, including his team’s first score on offense and the game-winner in overtime.
Stetson Bell Stetson Bell 5'9" | 160 lbs | DB Zachary | 2025 LA | 5-9, 155 DB | Zachary (2025)
The junior safety was a high-energy spark plug all over the field for the Broncos from snaps out on the perimeter covering receivers to in the box where he fired into the backfield for at least one big tackle for loss on an early fourth-down attempt by Catholic.
Jacob Bradford | 6-0, 190 DB/ATH | Catholic (Baton Rouge) (2025)
The junior defensive back embraced the opportunity to cover a talented, highly ranked pass-catcher with about 7 inches of height advantage and more than held his own — including a leaping deflection in the third quarter that teammate Maxwell Maurer intercepted off the ricochet and his own game-sealing interception in overtime.
Dillan Durand Dillan Durand 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Zachary | 2024 State LA | 6-2, 175 DB | Zachary (2024)
The senior safety/backer made a couple nice plays on passes downfield for breakups that were among the Broncos’ defensive highlights.
Trey’Dez Green | 6-7, 230 TE/WR | Zachary (2024)
The LSU commit looked his part as easily the highest-ranked prospect on the field with a combination of size, athleticism and ball skills that made him impossible to shut down. Green caught six passes for 132 yards and a highlight-reel 64-yarder going up over a defender downfield, snatching the ball and running away for the score. The big target showed his athleticism both running across and downfield and his ability to make tough, contested catches in the air.
Sam Norman | 5-10, 160 DB | Catholic (Baton Rouge) (2025)
The first half felt largely dominated by Zachary but for a few huge, pivotal plays by Catholic to keep the deficit to one score and then, in the blink of a eye, pull back even by halftime. The junior safety provided the Bears two of the biggest with a leaping interception in the first quarter to snatch one of the Broncos’ first deep shots and start bringing it back the other direction and then a blocked punt in the final minute of the half that teammate Harrison Kidder returned for the Bears’ first score.
Blair Rousseau | 5-10, 240 DL | Catholic (Baton Rouge) (2024)
The big senior defensive lineman led the team with 10 tackles, including getting by opposing blockers for three sacks in a matter of minutes early in the fourth quarter to disrupt Zachary’s efforts to regain control of the contest.
Kameron Thomas | 5-10, 190 RB | Zachary (2024)
The Broncos’ running back continued his huge senior season with 30 carries for 169 yards and two touchdowns — the first and last in regulation to help put Zachary ahead early and pull back even late to force overtime.
Luke Wisham | 6-2, 170 WR/DB | Zachary (2024)
The Louisiana (Lafayette) commit has transitioned primarily to safety this season after playing more as a receiver throughout his high school career. His highlight in the contest came on a quick recovery of a fumble in traffic, and TCU offered him as a defensive back the following day.
