Notes: After uncharacteristically losing five straight games, Tascosa has now won two straight after the big win over Caprock. The Rebels face Lubbock-Cooper in Week 10 in a key District 5A-2, Div. 1 matchup. Beyond undefeated Abilene (5-0 in district), the three remaining playoff spots are still up for grabs. . .#1 Canadian (8-0, 3-0) continued to steamroll opponents and appears headed towards an undefeated regular season. . .West Plains (8-1, 3-0) took a commanding lead in District 4A-2, Div. 2 with a lopsided win over Perryton. After a bye in Week 10, West Plains can claim the undisputed district championship with a victory over Borger on Nov. 3. Wolves QB Reid Macon threw for 275 yards and 5 Td in the win over Perryton. . .Based on the Week 9 results, the four playoff teams from District 2A-1, Div. 1 will likely be Stratford, Panhandle, Farwell and West Texas. The first three aforementioned teams all won handily in Week 9. . .In a five-team district (District 4A-3, Div. 1), Canyon (7-1, 2-0) boosted their title hopes with a convincing victory over Randall. Canyon rushed for 521 yards on 55 carries and had three rushers with 100+ yards apiece led by Ryan Rivera with 141 yards on 13 carries. The four playoff teams from the district appear to be Canyon, Randall, Dumas and Hereford. . .District 3A-2, Div. 1 leaders Bushland (3-0 in district) and Dalhart (2-0) square off in a showdown for first place in Week 10 while Muleshoe and Shallowater will battle for third place.

Notes: If it seems like every Frenship game goes down to the wire, you're right, the Tigers kept their playoff hopes alive with a much-needed 46-44 victory over Odessa Permian at historic Ratliff Stadium. Frenship PK Drew Cox booted a 32-yard field goal with 2:32 left for the game-winning points before the Tigers defense stopped Permian with a third down sack and a deflected pass on fourth down. Frenship (6-2, 1-2) is tied for fourth with Permian in District 6A-2 behind Midland, Midland Legacy and Odessa. . .Three teams could be tied for second place in District 5A-2, Div. 1 after the Week 10 games are completed if Tascosa beats Lubbock-Cooper and Amarillo deals Abilene its first district loss. Abilene currently leads the district standings with a 5-0 mark with Lubbock-Cooper (3-1), Amarillo (3-1) and Tascosa (2-2) behind them. . .Idalou controls its own destiny in District 3A-4, Div. 2 with a 3-0 district mark after blanking Lubbock Roosevelt. Idalou can clinch the district title with a Week 10 victory over Littlefield on the road. Roosevelt and Littlefield are currently tied for second with 2-1 district marks.

Notes: Just when you thought District 6A-2 couldn't get any crazier, it did. With both teams battling for their playoff lives, Frenship won a shootout over Odessa Permian with a late field goal, 46-44. . .Meanwhile, unbeaten Midland (8-0) continued to punish opponents with their powerful running game as they rushed for 410 yards on 39 carries in a 59-28 win over Odessa. [player_tooltip player_id='1421038' first='Elijah' last='McCoy'] ran for 195 yards on 21 carries. The Bulldogs have rushed for 355+ yards in six of eight games this season, including 388+ yards in the last four games. . .Midland Legacy kept pace with its crosstown rival with a blowout win over San Angelo Central. When the smoke cleared, Midland remained atop the district standings with a 3-0 mark with two games left with Midland Legacy (2-1) and Odessa (2-1) one game behind. Midland, which didn't earn a 6A playoff spot in 2022, can clinch the district title with a win over Midland Legacy Friday night at Astound Broadband Stadium. . .Unbeaten Monahans (8-0, 3-0) controls its destiny in District 4A-1, Div. 2 after destroying Fabens. Pecos (2-1) and Fort Stockton (2-1) are one game behind. But Monahans has already beaten both teams. Their remaining two district games are against Mountain View And Clint.

Notes: As the only team in District 6A-1 with fewer than two district losses, Eastwood (7-1 overall, 6-0 district) continued its march towards the district championship with a shootout win over Montwood. Eastwood QB Evan Minjarez has been stellar all season and he continued his outstanding campaign by throwing for 278 yards and 1 TD. Eastwood rushed for 335 yards and 6 TD with Minjarez and Max Mancilla doing all of the damage on 52 carries, 34 by Mancilla. . .It's a dogfight between five schools behind Eastwood in the district standings. Those five teams all have two or three losses. Pebble Hills currently holds down second place with a 5-2 district mark but the Spartans are only one-half game ahead of Montwood (4-2) and one game in front of Americas (4-3). If the season ended after Week 9, those would be the four playoff teams. . .In the six-team District 5A-1, Div. 1, Del Valle controls its own destiny with a 3-0 conference mark after trouncing Hanks. QB [player_tooltip player_id='1305508' first='Jake' last='Fette'] threw for 322 yards and 5 TD on 15-of-24 passing. The Conquistadores will be tested by Ysleta (2-1 in district) in Week 10 while Bel Air (3-1) is a heavy favorite over struggling Horizon. . .Canutillo (6-2, 3-0) stayed unbeaten in District 5A-1, Div. 2 with a hard-fought 21-14 victory over Chapin. Canutillo can clinch the district title with a victory over winless Jefferson. Chapin (2-1) and Andress (2-1) both have just one district loss. However, both have lost to Canutillo.
