Defense ruled the day in a couple of matchups, but offensive stars still found ways to shine. Here’s a look at several performances worthy of Prep Redzone game balls.
Our first two game balls go to players who made back-to-back huge plays in a huge spot. In the first half of Byrnes’ 28-26 win over Dorman, it seemed like the Rebels were poised to start pulling away. They’d had a successful drive, were inside the Dorman 10-yard line, and it looked like the game would soon be 14-7.
It was. Just not like you’d expect. Because Kentavion Anderson Kentavion Anderson 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Dorman | 2026 SC did this.
One. Hundred. Yards. Step in front of it, put the QB on skates during the return, off to the races. Just like they drew it up, and Dorman enjoyed a 14-7 lead.
For about 13 seconds. Because that’s about how long it took in game time for Chamarryus Bomar Chamarryus Bomar 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC to answer. He finished the game with 114 all-purpose yards, including 96 on a kick return that knotted the game at 14-14.
Two big-time plays, two game balls.
Austin Bigford RB, Chesnee
The Eagles got a big bounce-back win, blasting Blacksburg 54-13. Bigford was a big part of the reason why, rushing for 111 yards and a TD on just 14 carries. He also made two tackles, including one for a loss, and recorded a sack.
Jaiden McDowell Jaiden McDowell 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Gaffney | 2026 State SC RB, Gaffney
In a pivotal Region II-5A game against Boiling Springs, McDowell accounted for both of the Indians’ touchdowns in a 17-7 win. He ran for 139 yards and a score on 20 carries, and recorded three catches for 27 yards and another TD.
Jarriel Jefferies DL, Gaffney
Jefferies helped lead the way for the Indians in the win over Boiling Springs, notching seven total tackles and recording a pair of sacks.
Terrell Edwards LB, Dorman
Edwards helped lead a stellar defensive effort for the Cavaliers. He had eight tackles, including three for loss, and added 2.5 sacks.
Aiden Gibson Aiden Gibson 6'2" | 190 lbs | RB Woodruff | 2027 State SC RB, Woodruff
Gibson showed his versatility in the Wolverines’ loss to Clinton. Bottled up by the Red Devils’ defense on the ground, he caught six passes for 164 yards and a touchdown.
