We’ve details on this weekend’s biggest games on Prep Redzone..
West Forsyth at Lambert
It’s a giant Forsyth County matchup this weekend as the 5-1 Wolverines go on the road to take un undefeated rival Lambert. West Forsyth’s lone loss this year came in just a one-point loss to Marietta, an out-of-region opponent. They’ve played excellent football behind young quarterback Max Walraven Max Walraven 6'5" | 190 lbs | QB West Forsyth | 2026 State GA along with running backs Foster Orris Foster Orris 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB West Forsyth | 2025 State GA and do-it-all playmaker Ryder Stewart. The Wolverines are on a four-game winning streak and are playing great football defensively, holding every opponent this year to under 20 points.
The Longhorns may not be the most talented team, but all they do is win. They play sound, fundamental football and know what it takes to get the job done. They have wins over Sequoyah, Dawson County, Mountain View, Flowery Branch, East Coweta, and Forsyth Central. They win tight games and gives a maximum effort for all fur quarters. They know how to win and can end the season on a strong note with wins over West Forsyth and Milton down the stretch to end the regular season.
Buford at Mill Creek
This is easily the game of the week in Georgia this weekend. The 6-0 Buford Wolves, one of the favorites in 7A right now, hit the road to take on rival Mill Creek, the reigning 7A champions from last season.
The Wolves are easily the most talented team in the country. They have a roster full of 5-star prospects including their quarterback, Georgia Bulldog commit Dylan Raiola Dylan Raiola 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB Buford | 2024 State GA . They’re deep, talented, and appear to be playing better and better as the season moves along. On offense, they have speedy playmakers all over the place, but they haven’t dominated in the run game so far. Still, they have a quarterback who can sling it all over the field. Defensively, the Wolves are as deep and talented as anyone. They’re looking for revenge in this one, and if they want to win the region, they’ll have to take out the Hawks.
Mill Creek knows how to win. That’s what they do. They also have plenty of talent on the roster, but they have an excellent staff as well. This roster is full of players who fight hard, disciplined football. They make plays and they find a way to win games. They’ve played a tough schedule so far in 2023 and have impressive wins over Parkview, Norcross, Cedar Grove, North Gwinnett, Archer, and Central Gwinnett. They’ve scored at least 30 points in every game but one so far this season, and they’ll need to be at their best if they want to light up the score against Buford. If anyone can do it, Mill Creek might be the team.
Peachtree Ridge/North Gwinnett
Another big Gwinnett County matchup in 7A, the fast-rising Peachtree Ridge Lions are flying high at 6-0 right now as they head to play against a North Gwinnett team on the rise. The Lions have been one of the biggest surprise teams across the state and are quickly getting back to their winning ways. They’ve made it look easy this year, scoring 34 points in every game so far this season. They’ve been blowing teams out as well, winning every game but one by 20+ points. They’ve looked great all the way around with excellent quarterback play from sophomore Darnell Kelly Darnell Kelly 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Peachtree Ridge | 2026 State GA . They’re also averaging 170 yards on the ground with 16rushing touchdowns. As good as they’ve been, they still haven’t played a team like North Gwinnett.
The Bulldogs are under new leadership, but they still continue to win. They have two losses on the season to quality opponents in Parkview and Mill Creek, but they’ve looked terrific in just about every other game. Junior quarterback Ryan Hall has been outstanding, throwing for 15 touchdowns this season with just one INT. They also run the ball well, averaging just under 160 rushing yards per game with 17 touchdowns on the ground. They’ve won their last three games in dominant fashion against Duluth, Berkmar, and Meadowcreek.
