It isn’t surprising with WA having a 2 to 1 population advantage, which makes the success of West Linn and Central Catholic all the more impressive. Both Oregon teams have the potential of being nationally ranked, which is incredibly rare within the state. Even crazier is how many underclassmen each program has. Expect both teams to be equally talented next season.
Overall Washington has a 14-6 advantage as it relates to the Northwest’s top 20 teams. Have a look as we break down the Top 20 schools in the region.

11.Camas WA (8-1)
The lack of respect given to the GSHL teams surprises me. One top 25 WA poll to start the year didn’t have the Papermakers mentioned even after their 8-7 opening week loss to #1 Yelm. Both Camas and Skyview will have a chance to make a deep run in the playoffs.
12.Skyview WA (8-1)
I’ve been a big advocate of the Storm all year, with their only blemish coming in a 21-9 loss to Camas. The Poll I just referenced had Skyview at #21 overall in Washington at the beginning of the season. It was ridiculously bad considering they are a legit state title contender.
13.Kennedy Catholic WA (8-1)
Kennedy has a bunch of young talent with their only loss coming to Regis Jesuit HS out of Colorado to start the year 36-33. Sophomore’s Derek Colman-Brusa Derek Colman-Brusa 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Kennedy Catholic | 2026 State WA , Joey Thomas Joey Thomas 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Kennedy Catholic | 2026 State WA , and Dante Saladino Dante Saladino 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Kennedy Catholic | 2026 State WA have been playing out of their mind. Once again, we will see if the young guys can step up and lead.
14.Lakeridge OR (7-2)
The Pacers have really played well the 2nd half of the season with an impressive 27-7 win over rival Lake Oswego to close the year. Even more impressive is the youth movement and how much talent they have returning, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Them, Tualatin, and Sherwood are the clear cut #3-5 teams in the state.
15.Emerald Ridge WA (7-2)
The Jaguars have a handful of D1 kids with the potential of making a state title run if they get hot in the playoffs. The 41-35 loss to Graham Kapowsin a few weeks ago speaks to how close some of these programs are from a talent standpoint. Eastern Washington commit Jake Schakel Jake Schakel 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Emerald Ridge | 2024 State WA has been lights out, hitting on 71% of his passes with 34 TDs/6 INTs.
16.Eastmont WA (9-0)
Not many people, including myself, were aware of the talent within the Eastmont program. They have continued to get better each and every week, with impressive wins over a good Moses Lake squad and the likes of Skyline 21-3. We will see how this translates in the playoffs.
17.Chiawana WA (8-1)
Chiawana lost an overtime game to Kamiakin to start the year but have won every game since, including an out of conference matchup against Mount Si 14-12. Their first-round matchup versus a good 8-1 Moses Lake team will be telling.
18.Eastlake WA (8-1)
The Wolves continue to win close games against good teams with their only loss coming by a TD to reigning state champ Lake Stevens. The recent OT win over Bothell and 2-point win versus Mount Si speaks to their ability to execute in crunch time. Even more telling is the number of talented underclassmen they have returning next season.
19.Lake Oswego OR (6-3)
The Lakers lost to West Linn, Tualatin, and Lakeridge but are young and extremely well coached. The 2nd half of the season hasn’t been what they had hoped for offensively, but the talent is there to potentially break out in the playoffs led by standout sophomore RB Lamarcus Bell Lamarcus Bell 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Lake Oswego | 2026 State OR .
20.Lincoln WA (6-3)
Early losses to Tualatin and Camas are respectable. Freshman QB Sione Kahoe is the real deal, and they have a bunch of young talent coming up. Look for the Abes to be a problem for opponents in the playoffs, potentially making a run in a loaded 3A field.
