Harlan High School 9-0
Harlan is off to a 9-0 start leaving some to believe that they should be the outright district champs already headed into this next week but because they have one game left and the way the district is aligned that doesn’t seem likely even though they’ve managed to knock off everyone in their path. It’ll be interested to see if Harlan ends up having to split the title of district champs or will they get to keep it all for themselves after they face Taft High School in the season finale.
Reagan High School 8-0
With a hot 8-0 start to the season the question remains “who can beat the rattlers?”. Reagan went 7-4 last year but seemed to find success this offseason with their preparation and it’s landed them at 8-0 and #1 in their district. They’ve managed to beat some tough teams like Smithson Valley, Johnson and Churchill so it’s not like they haven’t been heavily tested this season. If they can beat Roosevelt and a tough yet banged up Brandeis team this could be one of the best seasons in school history.
Steele High School 7-1
One of the highest scoring and most exciting teams in the district with their only loss being to a tough Austin Lake Travis team Steele is set to finish #1 in the district for the 3rd consecutive year if they can finish the season knocking off their two rivals Judson and Clemens. Everyone knows anything can happen when you face off against a rival so don’t be fooled by the records these next two weeks.
Alamo Heights 8-0
Alamo Heights is 8-0 after going 11-2 and 13-1 the last two years. Alamo Heights has proven they know how to win so winning district isn’t the issue it’s the playoffs and once they get outside of their city limits. Right now they’re #1 in their district and face off against Lanier and a tough Sam Houston team out of San Antonio in their season finale. If this high flying offense can keep up with what they’re doing these next two weeks Alamo Heights can and will be undefeated headed into the playoffs.
Burbank High School
At 7-1 on the season and 6-1 in district play Burbank is prepared to make a deep playoff run and must finish the season strong. They aren’t in the toughest district but they have definitely been battle tested this season so expect them to at least make it out of San Antonio with their playoff run this post season.
