For college coaches, finding young standout DBs who show continuous growth is key to finding programs that develop prospects with the potential to be difference-makers at the next level.
This article will look at three programs with an impressive safety and cornerback duo that will return next fall, making them programs worth adding to the scouting radar.
Fairview Knights
Fairview is a program in Boulder that has produced big-time players in the secondary over the years, including Colorado State standout Henry Blackburn. The current roster has an abundance of talent in each graduating class, with many current starters returning next season. The Knights’ defensive back core has been lights out this season, proving their seniors and underclassmen are worthy of college roster spots.
Junior cornerback Wyatt Keegan Wyatt Keegan 5'8" | 150 lbs | DB Fairview | 2025 State CO has been outstanding during his second season as a starter for the Knights. He is a lockdown corner who wins in one-on-one situations and does a fantastic job of playing the ball in the air. Keegan will be heading into the postseason with 41 total tackles, two tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, three interceptions–one returned for a touchdown–and one fumble recovery.
Toray Davis Toray Davis ATH Fairview | 2026 CO is a ball-hawking free safety for Fairview who makes plays on both sides of the ball. Davis finished the regular season with 35 total tackles, two pass breakups, one fumble recovery, four interceptions, and two pick-sixes.
Pomona Panthers
Pomona is a program with an extensive history that will be dropping two classifications due to enrollment numbers.
The Panthers have a young team with a budding secondary that finished the season with an impressive showing that foreshadowed a future worth anticipating.
Noah Sanchez is a junior safety who has greatly improved from just a season ago, emerging as one of the leading tacklers for the Panthers through the entirety of the season. The defensive field general proved himself to be a ball hawk after ending the season with a handful of interceptions in the final game, including a game-sealing pick with less than a minute left in regulation.
Sophomore cornerback Mayson Ortivez stepped up and filled in on varsity after a senior corner suffered a season-ending injury in the latter half of the season. From his first start, Ortivez proved himself to be a physical corner with solid press-man technique and the willingness to lower his shoulder and initiate contact with the ball carrier.
Castle View Sabercats
Castle View is a program that has consistently produced next-level athletes, which makes it no surprise that legitimate talent is among the ranks. The junior varsity team for the Sabercats has a few players who could easily start on varsity at other programs, making Castle View a recruiting destination for college scouts.
Jeramiah Craft is a junior cornerback with a significantly high ceiling. Craft is a fluid corner with impressive technique, a testament to his NFL lineage. Sophomore strong safety Tyler Thornton is a tough competitor who does a fantastic job of coming downhill and delivering tone-setting hits. Even though Craft and Thornton are JV players, they are standout DBs with the potential to emerge as sleeper prospects.
