Highlights
Wren is a balanced RB with a strong all-around skillset. He’s pacing Basic’s rushing attack with 65 carries for 350 and 3 TDs through seven games of his senior season. He’s a low, compact back at 5’9”/195 that runs with physicality, downhill power, and low center-of-gravity. He can pound it between the tackles, catch the ball out of the backfield, and run through defenders in space. Wren will have two more opportunities to add to his regular season rushing totals with matchups against Green Valley and Foothill coming up.
Highlights
Hill is an athletic two-way starter (WR/DB) for Mater East Academy. He offers speed and athletic playmaking as a wideout with the elusiveness and acceleration to produce explosive plays after the catch. He leads MEA in receiving yards (300) and TDs (5) on 16 catches. He shows great body control and extended radius as a pass-catcher. He’s an aggressive tackler in his CB/nickel role that flashes coverage skill over the slot. Hill holds offers from Pacific University, Minot St., Wright St., and Western Colorado.
Trey Bush
Trey Bush
Bush produced his best game of the season in a close 50-43 loss to Basic, recording 10 catches for 180 yards (233 total) and 2 TDs. He gets into his routes with clean, smooth releases on the front-end and can accelerate away from DBs at the second and third levels. He finishes with great hands downfield and vertical leap at the catch-point. He’s an aggressive perimeter tackler from his CB spot and creates PBUs in coverage with quick break on the ball. Bush is an underrated athlete with skills that should translate to either side of the ball at the next level.
Fonohea has flashed aggressive tackling and ability to cover the flat in his first varsity season at CB. He’s most effective in shallow coverage where he can undercut quick-hitters and make reliable tackles on the perimeter. He does a good job of squeezing go-routes to the sideline and puts himself in position to make a play on the ball. Could improve his finishing by turning PBUs into turnovers. North Valleys will look to secure the first league win on the road against Carson and Hug over the next two weeks.
Kaiden Sayles
Kaiden Sayles
Sayles leads Palo Verde’s defense in INTs with 3 through six games of his junior season. He thrives in shallow coverage over the slot where he can use his timing and ball skills to disrupt passing lanes. He’s anticipatory in zone coverage and can get to the QB when blitzing off the edge. Sayles and Palo Verde finish league play with road matchups at Legacy and Cimarron-Memorial.
