Generally, stock risers are those who have put in the offseason work and are showing vast improvements from year’s past. All five of these players have demonstrated great work ethic and vast improvements from last season!
RB | Kellen Russell-Dixon Kellen Russell-Dixon 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI | GR Catholic Central
Kellen hasn’t done anything I haven’t seen him do before, but he continually does things to separate him from the pack. He’s a 3-down back. Kellen is someone you can give a big workload and bee your bellow. His contact balance and broken tackle rate is elite while his athleticism and speed are solid. His recent film shows noticeably increased production in the passing game which is another big plus. Kellen’s body and skillset are where they need to be heading to the next level – I have a high D2 grade for Kellen.
QB | Jacob Tuttle Jacob Tuttle 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Notre Dame Prep | 2024 State MI | ND Prep
As the tweet below states, Jacob is having an incredible season. The ND Prep Senior has been diming it up with more touchdowns (22) than incompletions (15). His 2023 film shows a few great deep balls with plenty of smart short throws that have a lot of YAC. He’s also shown improvement with pocket presence and scrambling ability. I still have Jacob graded as a Division 3 quarterback, but there’s no doubt that his offseason work is paying off in big ways. He’s much improved from a year ago.
QB | Brody Betser Brody Betser 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Caledonia | 2025 State MI | Caledonia (2025)
There had been a ton of hype around Brody heading into the 2023 season, and I didn’t know what to make of it. I saw Brody a couple times over the summer and thought he threw the ball well for the most part. I thought his accuracy was okay but his IQ and ability to make decisions was way ahead of the curve. Fundamentally, his film shows good footwork with a release on the quicker side. I love how he stands in the pocket and strikes- he doesn’t dance in the pocket too much. He looks comfortable. I’m also impressed with his ability to attack the middle of the field, oftentimes fitting the ball over linebackers in coverage. Brody is trending toward being a Division 2 Quarterback like Mason McKenzie, who’s now at SVSU. With more mastery of the fundamentals as well as QB IQ I could easily see Brody receive MAC offers one day.
DB | Drew Rankin Drew Rankin 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Northville | 2025 State MI | Northville (2025)
From what I’ve analyzed, Drew is as consistent of a worker as you’re going to see. Maybe not the most physically gifted person on the planet but he makes up for it with being in that 90th percentile of work ethic per say. A few years ago, Drew was a scrappy young DB with a lot of things to learn, but after consistent work, he’s grown into a baller and a leader on an undefeated big-school program. This is Drew’s breakout season. His week 1 performance against Clarkston truly set the tone. Going 1on1 against a Big 10 committed tight end, Drew won rep after rep while making plays on the ball. Drew has another huge test in a couple weeks against Belleville then the postseason. Colleges everywhere are looking for DBs. My gut tells me he probably doesn’t have the physical tools to play Division 1 football, but I can easily see Drew succeeding at the Division 2 level. I would 100% recommend Drew to any and all Division 3 programs. What I’ve heard about his work ethic, leadership, and overall intangibles truly separates him from the pack.
DT | Zachary Kelly Zachary Kelly 6'0" | 260 lbs | DL Forest Hills Northern | 2024 State MI | Forest Hills Northern
Zachary Kelly Zachary Kelly 6'0" | 260 lbs | DL Forest Hills Northern | 2024 State MI is someone I am dying to watch in person- and I will try to get myself in front of him soon. On paper he’s a 6’2 280lb beast who’s able to stuff the run, rush the passer, and dominate most offensive lines in the OK Conference. I first discovered Zach almost two years ago as I watched his Sophomore season highlights. I noted that he was a smaller, faster D-Lineman with great power + getoff for his size and age but he needed to stay the course and work consistently. That’s exactly what he’s done. His sophomore tape showed flashes, and his senior tape is showing all of that potential coming to fruition. He’s gotten bigger, stronger, and still has a pretty good getoff. He went from a good role player Sophomore year to a matchup nightmare and a D2 prospect his senior year. He’s due for a rankings bump and with a good offseason I could see the entire GLIAC fighting for his recruitment
