Governor Livingston is on a five game winning streak, having let up only 27 points over that timeframe (5.4 points per game.) That is an impressive defensive effort that will be difficult for Carteret to put points up on. This defense is spearheaded by a stud in the defensive backfield in Michael Geertsma. Michael has been a dangerous player to throw towards, as he has hauled in 3 interceptions on the season. This team is also very strong offensively, especially in the run game. Governor Livingston has 3 strong runners, two in the backfield and one from the QB position. [player_tooltip player_id='1017480' first='Owen' last='Chait'] is the leading rusher with 512 rushing yards and 2 tds, and [player_tooltip player_id='855766' first='Jack' last='Dally'] playing just as well with 380 yards on the ground and 6 touchdowns to go with it. Lastly, the team's quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='1017492' first='Lucciano' last='Santamaria'], has made a huge impact on the ground and through the air. With 329 rushing yards and 598 passing, Lucciano makes teams question whether to put their efforts towards the run or pass game.

Outside of their one loss to Plainfield, Carteret has been prolific and has dominated opponents on both sides of the ball. In their five wins they've let up only 6.6 points per game while they've averaged 40.8 points on offense. [player_tooltip player_id='1032187' first='Jakir' last='Thomas'] has been the main force on Carteret's offense so far this season. The junior back has ran for an astonishing 13 touchdowns and has accumulated 697 yards on the ground. Defensively, Carteret has talent at all three levels. [player_tooltip player_id='712983' first='Antwaun' last='Jackson'] has been a menace to offenses, as he has sacked the QB 6 times, forced a fumble, and has recovered 3. In the defensive backfield Eric Thompson has picked the ball off 3 times and returned 1 for a touchdown as well.

Pinelands has an impressive unit. Starting off hot at 4-1, this team is led by junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='354975' first='Jaimin' last='Parkinson']. Jaimin has been sensational, as he has rushed for 563 yards and 6 touchdowns through 5 games. Jaimin always has the ability to let loose and break off for a big gain. In the receiving game, wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1029736' first='Mike' last='Frawley'] has been just as impressive as he has caught 4 touchdowns and 412 yards through the air. This is a tough 1-2 combo to cover. On Pineland's defense, class of 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1029760' first='Eric' last='Kobilnyk'] has been making his presence known. With 44 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF and 6 TFL, Eric is a legit talent that will continue to impress as the season continues.

Toms River South has been making some waves along the coast. After only winning one game all of last season in the opening weekend, Toms River South has really turned it around and is currently on a 4 game winning streak. At home this week, they will look to continue to surprise the state. The team is led by quarterback James Alexander and running back [player_tooltip player_id='1524386' first='Jake' last='Henehan'], who have both continued to improve and have helped turned the team into contenders. If they can notch off a win this week, they will head into a battle next weekend with a familiar foe; Toms River North.
