It was a great atmosphere for the game, but Radford decided to play spoiler and dominated the entire game leaving with a 36-3 victory over Glenvar handing them their first loss on the season. Next week, Glenvar travels on the road to take on the Patrick County Cougars. Radford will host a home game against the James River Knights.
Below I highlight some of the players who stood out to me in Friday’s game:
Landen Clark
Landen Clark
I listed Landen as a player to watch this week and he did not disappoint. As the Quarterback and Free Safety for the Bobcats, he is a playmaker who must be accounted for. He throws a beautiful deep ball with good accuracy, and he also can make plays with his feet both in the pocket as he looks down field to make a throw, or as a runner, displaying good vision, toughness, and strength. On defense, he had two interceptions, one of which he took 60 yards for a touchdown. Landon is a great player and should not be overlooked on the recruiting trail.
Charlie Davis
Charlie Davis
I also listed Charlie as a player to watch in this game. He played an excellent game on defense making plays the entire game. He has good instincts and very good competitive toughness. What jumps out on his film is his ability to shed blocks with both speed and power, and then has very good finish on the play to tackle the quarterback or running back.
JD Grubb
JD Grubb
JD might have been my favorite player to watch at this game. He’s only a freshman, but you can quickly see why he is a feature piece in Radford’s offense. He’s a very elusive runner with very good foot quickness, lateral agility, and change of direction. He also displays good toughness as a runner despite only being 130 lbs. He does not yet display the elite top end speed you would like to see with a running back his size, but he has three years to continue to grow and develop, and he is a player to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Luke also showed up making plays. He recorded an interception on defense and the opening touchdown of the game on offense. The touchdown was a WR screen pass to him on the sideline, and he utilized his good athletic ability to juke two defenders for the 3 yard TD pass. He set the play up by manipulating the defender into thinking he was going to run a quick curl or slant that set up the block from the slot WR. He then planted his foot in the ground to return back to the line of scrimmage to receive the screen pass and take it into the endzone.
Carl Muse
Carl Muse
Carl accounted for the only points for Glenvar when he kicked a 35 yard field goal as time expired in the first half. His kick likely had another 10-15 yards extra on it if he needed. What was more impressive is that he executed an onside kick to open the second half when everyone was expecting it. He hit it with good bounce and had just the right timing when it crossed 10 yards that allowed Glenvar’s kick off team to disrupt Radford’s first line and recover the ball for Glenvar.
