We have found freshmen who aren't playing like they're one season removed from junior high ball. Many would say that the steepest learning curve for players entering high school is a tossup betweenthe speed of the game and the IQ factor. Here are a few class of 2027 freshman who have had minimal problems with both.

Keland Shelton Jr I 2027 I ATH I 6'3 190 I North Mecklenburg HS

Keland Shelton Jr. is a specimen already standing at 6'3 190. He stars as an edge and outside linebacker. Shelton is virtually unblockable on tape due to his initial burst and violent hands. Tackles have difficulties getting proper punches off on Shelton to redirect and deter him from his path to the backfield; and believe you me, he lives in the backfield! Once in the backfield, Sheldon uses a wicked wingspan and natural length to get home to his assignment. He comes with great finesse moves equipped with counters. I have no doubt this is a power 5 defender laying in wait. As he continues to grow and add strength and experience you will hear this name a lot.

Sincere Daye I 2027 I DB/WR | 5'10 150 I West Charlotte HS

Sincere Daye is a young and aggressive defensive back who isn't afraid to stick his nose into traffic. Tape shows him aggressively trying to get in on every hit and pile when possible. He excels in zone drops and man coverage techniques. Daye plays with leverage and a high IQ that allows him to take risks at times in games for the big play verses the basic one. This sets him up to ballhawk on 50/50 balls. Being a balanced defensive back in the run and passing game, Daye projects to burst onto the recruiting scene if his present play continues and his strength kicks in from another offseason in a high school strength and conditioning program.

Khalil Hansley Mcnair I 2027 I OL/RG I 6'0 270 I West Charlotte HS

Khalil Hansley is abnormally strong for a freshman offensive lineman. He is a road grader of an interior presence for the run game. Khalil Hansley gets body to body extremely quickly and packs one heck of a punch when engaged. At 270 pounds, Hansley also excels in pass protection due to his girth and ability to hold his ground. You can see the youth in Hansley's pass drops, but what can't be taught is his intentionality and personality when involved in a pride-filled battle of wills with a defender. The skillset to move in reverse will continue to evolve but as presently developed; Hansley is a pancake artist. Due to his style of play at such a young age, look for Khalil Hansley to become a pillar for his program's interior posse and catch the attention of the collegiate ranks.

Camauri Berry I 2027 I OLB/ATH I 5'10 165 I Spalding HS

Camauri Berry is "Mr. Big Play". This kid plays both sides of the ball and is somehow always around the big play, causing the big play, or singlehandedly making the big play. Presently playing the outside linebacker position for Spalding High School, Berry excels in pass drops and hat reads. He has fast reaction instincts to high and low hat linemen reads. This places him in great positions to come down for the big hit or to drop into and close the passing window. Berry is a high IQ player who competes with enthusiasm and purpose. If the defensive side of the ball is any indication to how he will fare as a two-way player moonlighting at running back, Berry is about to turn some if not many heads in the very near future.
