Obviously with Goodrich giving up 35, it wasn’t the best collective effort, but there were still some guys that showed clear ability and traits that translate to the next level. On the Corunna side, they were a garbage time TD away from a shutout against an offense that had been scoring at a good clip coming into this Flint Metro matchup. This article will highlight a few of the top performers from this weeks matchup.
Tarick Bower Tarick Bower 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Corunna | 2024 State MI , DB, Corunna- Not only was he grabbing everything thrown his way offensively, but defensively he was all over the ball as well, and wound up with a pick because of it. He has great body control in the air and he was really impressive at staying off the receiver but still batting the ball away with his long arms. I was surprised at just how well he was able to break on the ball when they threw it underneath as well, he seemed to really be able to break on a dime. He was a menace to the passing attack of Goodrich, and it really made the Martians struggle offensively. His performance was had a direct impact on just how effective the other team was able to be.
Jaden Edington, LB, Corunna- I love the way this kid plays. He’s a thumper with a nose for the football. As impactful as Tarick Bower Tarick Bower 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Corunna | 2024 State MI was on the passing game, he was that impactful on the Goodrich ground attack. He reads his keys well and brings the juice when he delivers hits. He’s intense, he has great agility side to side, and actually was really good at dropping back in passing situations. He walked out of this game with an interception, and numerous tackles in big situations. It seemed that every tackle that was being made, #32 was right in the middle of it. I really think he is on a great trajectory and is just scratching the surface as far as potential goes. If he doesn’t end up on a roster somewhere at the next level, I would be very surprised!
Charlie Doyle, DL, Corunna- Doyle was a really important piece of the Corunna defense, blowing up plays and bringing pressure most of the night. I have multiple notes of him pressuring the QB and forcing incompletions or bad decisions. I love how mobile he is, and his high motor is great for pursuit of the QB. I was thoroughly impressed with his get off and ability to shed blocks. I am really hoping to see him play again soon, because I would love to get some more notes on him since I haven’t seen much in the way of Hudl videos.
Gavin Valley, DB, Goodrich- Another game watching Gavin, another interception for him. I am really liking that every time I see him, he is the same consistent player. He is constantly making plays in the run game, coming up to make tackles, and he’s always around the ball in the passing game. His motion is really fluid when backpedaling, and he always stays lockstep with is receiver and reads the route perfectly. It is no fluke that he is constantly making picks, he definitely has an incredible ability to play the ball and maintain leverage. He’s not one that gets a ton of pass interference penalties or anything, he really stays clean and disciplined. Keep an eye out for him to get some colleges looking for him very soon, I really think he’s on the verge of some offers.
Chase Burnett Chase Burnett 5'11" | 180 lbs | LB Goodrich | 2025 State MI , LB, Goodrich- I love watching Chase play, as he has that old school linebacker feel to him. He reads the play quick, gets to the hole, breaks down and wraps up. He displayed a lot of strength and lateral quickness. He had a couple times where it looked like he just ran over his blocker on the way to make the tackle. He showed off quite a bit of football IQ in key situations, knowing down and distance and feeling what was coming his way, just by recognizing formations. He doesn’t over pursue, he makes sure he stays in his lane and makes the tackles that come to him. I really like where he is as a 2025 prospect so far.
