CHAMPLIN-- Thursday night might have brought us miserable weather conditions around the Twin Cities Metro, but did we see one of the most well oiled machines perform at a high-level in 6A, as the Centennial Cougars dominated Champlin Park with their excellent discipline, attention to detail, amongst other skillsets. We bring out our game recap, some stat lines from the game, and which prospects that stood out last night are still uncommitted in the 2024 class of recruiting.

CENTENNIAL

The Centennial consistently relied on their power rushing attack all night long due to the efforts of 2024 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1145327' first='Maverick' last='Harper'], as he plunged his way for his first rushing touchdown of the night with a 16-yard run thru loads of contact to get the Cougars on the board first in the first quarter. Centennial 7, Champlin Park 0

Yet again in the second quarter, it was [player_tooltip player_id='1145327' first='Maverick' last='Harper'] that did the damage in the running game as the Cougars hog mollies were so efficient all game long with their run-blocking as Maverick had several sizable gaps to run thru within the inside box as this time from 13 yards out, Maverick ironed thru contact to give Centennial the two score lead versus the Champlin Park Rebels. Centennial 14, Champlin Park 0

What did I love about this Cougars offense last night? Throughout the game, their were so versatile and disciplined by allowing their intensive run game setup the pass, as 2024 uncommitted quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='105383' first='Daylen' last='Cummings'] consistently found 2024 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='242424' first='Ty' last='Burgoon'] persistently with their first touchdown from the duo coming in the second quarter from 17 yards out. Centennial 21, Champlin Park 0.
CENTENNIAL

The 3rd quarter showed off a similar ending in the Centennial passing game that the second quarter finished with scoring wise, this time it was over the top of the Champlin Park secondary. This was the longest score the Cougars had in Champlin on Thursday night, as [player_tooltip player_id='105383' first='Daylen' last='Cummings'] found [player_tooltip player_id='242424' first='Ty' last='Burgoon'] about as wide open as you can be as the Rebels secondary had a miscue over the middle of the field and Ty waltzed in for a 35-yard receiving touchdown which was the second and final touchdown from this duo last night. Centennial 28, Champlin Park 0

Finally after several drives that resulted in punts, the Rebels got on the scoreboard. I loved the work-ethic of uncommitted 2024 running back Arthur Russell and this young man showed full used of the agile skillsets I have seen for years as he finished an impressive drive from 1-yard out to get the Rebels their first and only touchdown on the night. Centennial 28, Champlin Park 7

CENTENNIAL

I loved the full on discipline these Cougars showed from game start to game end on both sides of the ball and that was evidently clear in this 4th quarter. Similar to what we saw most of the night, the rushing attack was well-versed lead by [player_tooltip player_id='1145327' first='Maverick' last='Harper'] as he got his 3rd touchdown of this game from 6 yards out to put a stamp on the Rebels and with Maple Grove losing to St. Michael Albertville 14-13 put their stamp on becoming the Metro North District Champions of 6A. Centennial 35, Champlin Park 7, Final.
