D’Mario Davenport
D’Mario Davenport
Davenport was the most effective offensive threat for the Huskies. Early, a patient run picked up five yards. Then, he stepped out of two tackles in the backfield but kept his feet and got the corner for twenty yards. He showed strength, breaking a tackle to pick up a first down. Two runs early in the second half picked up back-to-back first downs. Then, he bounced a run to the outside, turning a short gain into a first down. His speed to the corner got him into the end zone for a short touchdown. Davenport used a series of jump cuts to pop a run outside for eight yards. His 12-yard touchdown run between the tackles basically put the game away late.
Ethan Martin
Ethan Martin
Despite a cast on one of his hands, Martin was the best player on the field in the first half. He showed great speed and agility coming across the formation to make two tackles for short gains on the other side of where he originally lined up. Martin drew a penalty by getting into the backfield and nearly sacking the quarterback. Later, he read a quarterback draw and made a tackle for a short gain. In the second half, he stuffed two inside runs.
Despite the wet conditions, Pemberton ran the option effectively all night. Run was his read several times, and he showed good athletic ability for big plays and chain-moving plays. He did a solid job throwing the ball, but most of his big plays – including cutting upfield for a ten-yard touchdown and a fourth and nine when he saw a lane and on a designed pass picked up the first down with his legs.

Shaun Walrath
Shaun Walrath
Walrath was the most consistent offensive threat for the Storm. He made a catch near the sidelines for a first down. The senior broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage for a six-yard gain. Then, he got through the hole and hit the circle button to leave a defender grasping for air because of his spin move for extra yards. He then showed his power with a run up the middle for nine yards; then, he powered his way forward with minimal blocking for five yards.

Davis was giving the Storm’s interior line fits, especially in the first half. He beat his blocker off the snap and stuffed an inside run. Then, he got into the backfield on a third down and disrupted the play enough to allow teammates to make a tackle short of the first down. Later, Davis read a draw play and made the tackle for a short gain. He got in a passing lane and tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage.
Spencer Ackerman
Spencer Ackerman
Ackerman is a solid dual-threat quarterback. He was especially effective throwing to the outside. However, his best throw was a deep ball down the middle of the field. It was a perfectly thrown deep ball down the seam for a 68-yard touchdown. Using his legs, he broke two tackles on a scramble for a first down. He is the holder for extra points, and on a botched snap on the extra point, he rolled out and threw a short completion for the two-point conversion.
Maynard subbed in at quarterback when Pemberton had to miss some time with an injury. He was so effective he was used often once he got in – regardless of Pemberton’s status. Maynard kept the ball on the option and picked up a first down. On a designed run off-tackle, he picked up ten yards. He cut up the field on another option and bounced off a tackle for extra yards.
Highlights
Gondeck and his teammates in the secondary did a solid job in coverage most of the night. Individually, he deflected a pass in the end zone. He made a tackle on the outside near the goal line. Later, he came up strong in run support to make a tackle on the inside for a short gain.
Bailey Taylor
Bailey Taylor
Taylor got into the backfield multiple times against the Storm. He tallied a quarterback sack from the defensive end spot. Later, Taylor beat his man clean off the snap and made a tackle for a short gain. Then, he put immediate pressure on the quarterback and got a hit on the quarterback, forcing an incompletion.
Kost kept contain – allowing teammates to make the tackle. He read two wide receiver screens and made two tackles for losses. He stopped an option run for a short gain, and Kost pressured the passer, forcing an incomplete pass.
Highlights
Dehnicke did a little bit of everything for the Huskies. On defense, he made an open-field tackle. Later, he picked off a pass on a deep sideline route. He also used his hands on offense – with a nice catch on the sidelines.
Highlights
Walker Loesch
Walker Loesch
Early, Loesch was immediately in the backfield for a quarterback sack. He made another tackle for a short gain. On special teams, he caught a two-point conversion pass off a broken play.
Weikel made a tackle on the outside on 4th down, resulting in a turnover on downs. His pass rush resulted in a hit on the quarterback and an incomplete pass. Later, he knocked down a pass on a throw to the outside.
Peterson made a tackle on the outside on 4th down. Later, he kept his outside leverage and made a tackle on an off-tackle play for a short gain.
