We now have a better understanding of which teams are genuinely talented, which teams may have had a stroke of luck in the first few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each game in week 6 by conference for the 5A level. Up next is the Intermountain Conference. Each game will include a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
#4 Mountain View (5-0) @ #12 Redmond (3-2)
Prediction: Mountain View def. Redmond 32-13.
Mountain View is undeniably one of the top teams in 5A, and their recent 36-3 win over #13 Caldera further proves their dominance. The Cougars have an unbelievable defense, only giving up 4.6 points per game this season. Their running game, led by sophomore Angel Valenzuela Angel Valenzuela 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Mountain View | 2026 State OR , has also been impressive. On the other hand, Redmond lost to Bend last week and they will need to play flawlessly if they hope to keep up with the Cougars.

#5 Summit (2-3) @ #9 Bend (3-2)
Prediction: Summit def. Bend 34-7.
Last week, Bend had an impressive 19-3 win over #12 Redmond, which must have boosted their morale. However, this week they are up against the defending champions and it remains unclear if they have what it takes to keep up with them. Summit, the reigning champs, beat Ridgeview 63-0 last week and they are determined to win out. Three losses are more than enough for a powerhouse program like Summit, so they will be putting up a strong fight. Although I expect Bend’s defense to be better than Ridgeview’s this week, I believe Summit will eventually pull away.

#13 Caldera (3-2) @ Ridgeview (1-4)
Prediction: Caldera def. Ridgeview 37-14.
This upcoming game promises to be an interesting match-up as Ridgeview’s 1-4 record doesn’t fully reflect the team’s potential. Caldera has displayed consistent performance this season and should emerge victorious, provided they maintain their usual level of play. However, if Caldera underestimates Ridgeview and fails to take control of the game early on, an upset could very well be on the cards. Fortunately, Caldera is a well-coached and talented team, so I do not foresee this happening.
