The Rebels held host St. Martin’s on an early third down, blocked its subsequent field goal and then struck back swiftly the other direction.
A long pass play opened the scoring, and a highlight reel of explosive run plays on a career night by junior running back Dedric Lastie Dedric Lastie 5'4" | 140 lbs | RB Riverside Academy | 2025 LA helped Riverside cruise to a 55-14 victory.
Amiree Alexander Amiree Alexander 6'2" | 315 lbs | OL Riverside Academy | 2024 State LA | 6-2, 335 OL/DL | Riverside Academy (2024)
The senior was among the Rebels’ top standouts in the trenches on both sides of the line of scrimmage with his good quickness to go with his stout, strong frame. Alexander, who has been more heavily on our radar throughout his high school career as an offensive lineman, helped spring several of his team’s explosive plays in a dominant rushing performance. But he also wreaked havoc up front defensively not only stuffing the run at the line, but making multiple disruptive plays for loss.
Daken Baker | 6-2, 200 TE | St. Martin’s (2024)
The senior stood out with his tall, long frame as both a blocker and a pass-catcher with a 32-yard reception going up over an opposing defensive back downfield.
Harlem Berry Harlem Berry 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB St. Martin's | 2025 State LA | 6-0, 180 RB/DB | St. Martin’s (2025)
Even with St. Martin’s line banged up and with the solid Riverside defense did a good job slowing him down, Berry racked up 170 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries — adding a two-point run to score all of the Saints’ 14 points — and catching three passes for 24 yards. He also took snaps the bulk of the night after teammate Ashton Oliver was knocked out of the contest and, in addition to his rushes as a wildcat quarterback, completed a 32-yard pass to Baker.
Brock Bourgeois Brock Bourgeois 5'10" | 165 lbs | QB Riverside Academy | 2026 State LA | 5-10, 165 QB | Riverside Academy (2026)
The sophomore threw the early 51-yard touchdown for the first points of the evening, then added receiving and rushing scores on the goal line on as second-quarter gadget play and third-quarter keeper. And Bourgeois carried himself and led the team with a confidence and poise throughout the high-profile road matchup that bodes well for his Rebels beyond the novelty of finding the end zone in three different ways.
Jaedon Butler Jaedon Butler 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Riverside Academy | 2024 State LA | 5-11, 185 DB | Riverside Academy (2024)
The senior safety provided a fourth-down breakup of a pass toward the end zone in the third quarter to the Rebels’ defensive highlights in last year’s matchup and snatched an early interception in the red zone on a third down in the first quarter this year. His pick was one of a couple by Riverside, the next coming from freshman linebacker Cruz Cambre.
Jared Campbell Jared Campbell 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Riverside Academy | 2024 State LA | 6-0, 160 DB | Riverside Academy (2024)
Arguably the defensive player of the game or certainly among the top candidates with Alexander, the senior safety flew around the field racking up tackles, including at least four behind the line of scrimmage.
Cooper Helmke Cooper Helmke 5'9" | 125 lbs | K St. Martin's | 2025 State LA | 6-3, 165 K | St. Martin’s (2025)
Riverside’s concern to not allow Berry and company burn its kick coverage team showed right off the bat as kicks continued heading out of bounds and forcing re-kicks. But, on the flip side, St. Martin’s had its own weapon of a specialist with the junior booming his kicks through the end zone.
Kenric Johnson Jr. | 5-6, 140 WR/ATH | Riverside Academy (2028)
Another versatile, promising young athlete who stood out for the Rebels in a variety of fashions, “Boogie” was a valuable weapon for Bourgeois and complement for Lastie as both a runner and receiver, threw the touchdown pass to Bourgeois on the goal-line gadget play and then scored their team’s final touchdown taking late snaps as a reserve/wildcat quarterback.
Dedric Lastie Dedric Lastie 5'4" | 140 lbs | RB Riverside Academy | 2025 LA | 5-3, 130 RB/ATH | Riverside Academy (2025)
Hands down the player of the game, the Rebels’ junior running back entered the week among the leading rushers in the New Orleans and — in a matchup that featured Louisiana’s top-ranked prospect at the position — stole the show with a career-high 344 yards and four touchdowns on just 18 carries. As evidenced by his explosive average, Lastie flashed his breakaway speed in the open field. But his toughness through contact for his size and his impressive stop-start and change-of-direction were notable.
Mason Smith | 5-10, 200 TE | Riverside Academy (2024)
The Rebels’ tight end showed his capability as both a physical blocker in the run game, particularly on the goal line and pass-catcher, highlighted by an early reception on a quick out from Bourgeois and bursting upfield though a pair of well-executed blocks and 51 yards to the end zone for the game’s first points.
