How It Happened: Frenship is the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps Lubbock Region poll after winning its second straight down-to-the wire game, a thrilling 54-52 4 OT win over vastly improved Lubbock Monterey. Frenship totaled 617 offensive yards in the hard-fought win. . .Canadian protected it’s No. 1 ranking in the MaxPreps Amarillo Region poll with a convincing victory over Elk City (OK), scoring the final 17 points of the second quarter. QB Camren Cavalier was 16-of-21 passing for 225 yards and 3 TD. . .Lubbock Estacado moved up to No. 2 in the MaxPreps Lubbock Region poll after handling Amarillo Palo Duro, 48-14. The story of the game was an Estacado defense that forced EIGHT turnovers and scored directly off four of them, including three within a span of about a minute in the third quarter. . .Amarillo (No. 3 in the MaxPreps Amarillo Region poll) rallied in the second half but it wasn’t enough in a 32-27 loss to 6A Midland. . .3A Dalhart remained unbeaten with a 22-10 road win at Spearman as QB Kyler Read led the offense throwing and running. . .Dynamic Stratford QB Bryce Braden passed for 265 yards and 3 TDs and rushed for 120 yards and 2 TD on 7 carries to lift the Elks to a lopsided victory over Gruver. . .Hereford QB Kalub Ramirez threw for 230 yards and 2 TD and the Whitefaces stopped a late 2-point conversion attempt as they remain unbeaten with a 28-27 win over Shallowater. . .Lubbock-Cooper lost its second straight heartbreaker by the same score of 35-34 as the Pirates fell to Abilene Wylie. Wylie scored three defensive touchdowns in the first 13 minutes of the contest and that proved the difference. Lubbock-Cooper has lost 2 straight games for the first time since 2017. . .West Plains won the 2nd edition of the Boss Bowl with a 48-21 victory over neighbor Canyon at Happy State Bank Stadium. The Wolves scored on their first five possessions, led 24-7 at halftime and never looked back.
Top Performers
Rylan Leathers, Amarillo: Leathers never came off the field in Amarillo’s tough 32-27 loss to Midland. Leathers played 114 of 117 snaps – 72 on defense, 42 on offense. He made 24 tackles on defense and caught 3 passes for 30 yards on offense.
Kyler Read, Dalhart: Read completed 15-of-20 passes for 220 yards and 2 TD while rushing for 87 yards and another score to improve Dalhart to 3-0.
Luke Flowers, Canadian: Seven receptions for 128 yards and 2 TD to lead Canadian past Elk City (OK).
Kouper Boyd, Shallowater: Boyd rushed for 178 yards and 2 TD on 23 carries in Shallowater’s narrow loss to Hereford.
Hudson Hutcheson, Frenship: Statistically, Hutchenson had one of the best games of his career as he passed for 563 yards and 5 TD in Frenship’s wild 4 OT win over Lubbock Monterey
Wyatt Holmstrom. Seminole: Holmstrom and the Seminole offense were on fire again as they scored 58 points in a lopsided win over El Paso Mountain View. Holmstrom completed 38-of-53 passes for 337 yards and 4 TD. Five Seminole receivers had 5+ receptions.
Josue Sigala, Muleshoe: Muleshoe improved to 3-0 as Sigala rushed for 215 yards and 3 TD in a win over Friona. The Mules have scored 48 points in all three of their victories this season.
Kei’sean Harris, Estacado: Harris led an opportunistic Estacado defense that scored 4 touchdowns off turnovers by making 13 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT and 1 fumble recovery.

How It Happened: Midland Legacy remained the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps Odessa Region poll with a huge victory over Abilene. The Rebels amassed 541 total offensive yards. . .Midland improved to 3-0 by holding off Amarillo in the second half for a 5-point win on the road. Midland did what they usually do – run the football with ruthless efficiency. The Bulldogs had 355 yards on the ground. . .Odessa Permian had a pair of 100-yard rushers in their big win over Tascosa – Issac Herrera and Juzstyce Lara – and the Panthers amassed 304 yards on the ground on just 29 carries against the Rebels. . .Odessa’s game at Keller was called at halftime due to lightning and was ruled a 1-1 tie. As a result, the Bronchos are now 1-1-1. Bronchos running back Dae Dae Green ran for 89 yards on 13 carries in the first half. . .Monahans stayed unbeaten with a lopsided home win over Big Spring. . .Andrews went on the road and beat Midland Greenwood with a classic road game strategy: solid running game and strong defense. Andrews, running the Slot-T offense to perfection, amassed 472 yards on offense and forced four turnovers on defense.

Marcos Davila Marcos Davila 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Midland Lee | 2024 State TX , Midland Legacy: As the season progresses, Davila shows why he’ll be a Power 5 QB in a year. Davila threw for 353 yards and 3 TD as Legacy trounced Abilene.
Elijah McCoy, Midland: McCoy rushed for 3 touchdowns on runs of 29, 32 and 2 yards and caught 1 TD pass from 3 yards out to lead Midland past Amarillo. He finished with 198 yards rushing on 27 carries.
Issac Herrera, Odessa Permian: Herrera was a big part of the Panthers’ rushing attack against Tascosa as he had 142 yards on just 7 carries.
Boyd Cox, Coahoma: Coahoma’s offense was rolling against Kermit with 479 yards and 21 first downs as Cox completed 17-of-25 passes for 249 yards and 4 TD.
Kason Brown, Reagan County: Brown completed 23-of-37 passes for 282 yards and 3 TD to lead Reagan County to a wild 42-40 win over Crane.
Jaesean DeBouse, Andrews: The sophomore DeBouse ran for 250 yards and two TDs in the Mustangs’ road win over Midland Greenwood.
Isaiah Velasquez, Fort Stockton: Velasquez rushed for 144 yards on 11 carries to spark Fort Stockton to a win over El Paso Horizon.

How It Happened: In possibly the Game of the Year in El Paso, QB Evan Minjarez was magnificent in leading No. 1 Eastwood past No. 2 Pebble Hills in a high-scoring duel. Eastwood never trailed. The Troopers have a bye this week. . .Eastwood and Pebble Hills remain No. 1 and No.2 in the latest MaxPreps El Paso Region weekly poll. . .Franklin edged EP Coronado in the Westside Bowl played at UTEP’s Sun Bowl. A blocked PAT after Coronado’s first TD early in the game proved the difference. . .Steven Galindo rushed for 85 yards as unbeaten Eastlake got past El Dorado. . .The tone of the Canutillo-Austin matchup was set in the first quarter when Austin took the opening kickoff and drained about 10 minutes off the clock but fumbled at the Canutillo 2-yard line. Canutillo scored on two Pick-6s and fumble return on a blocked punt in the second quarter for a 21-0 lead. . .Del Valle bounced back from a loss to Pebble Hills with a lopsided victory over Andress. . .Montwood outlasted Americas in triple OT as Montwood QB Michael Southern passed for 247 yards and 2 TD while RB Izayuh Claudio rushed for 106 yards and 2 TD. . .Hanks is still perfect (3-0) after trouncing Irvin, 56-13 as Scott Veliz has won his first three games as the Knights’ head coach.
Top Performers
Evan Minjarez, Eastwood: The biggest star on the week’s biggest stage as Eastwood outlasted Pebble Hills in a thriller. Minjarez threw for 189 yards and 3 TD and ran for 154 yards to total 343 offensive yards.
Joseuberto Bondoni-Guzman, Franklin: The Cougars’ ‘Black Swarm’ defense was the primary reason Franklin was able to edge rival Coronado in the Westside Bowl. Bondoni-Gorman had 11 tackles in the effort.
Tyler White, Eastlake: The Falcons beat El Dorado behind a stellar defensive effort led by White, who had 11 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 2 QB hurries and a forced fumble.
Jake Fette, Del Valle: Fette threw for 252 yards and 3 TD as Del Valle routed Andress.
Anthony Carrillo, Parkland: The Matadors remained unbeaten as they easily handled Burges, 35-7, behind Carrillo’s 259 rushing yards on a workhorse 27 carries.
Marcus Porras, Hanks: Porras completed 10-of-13 passes for 260 yards, teaming with RB Michael Oliver (176 rushing yards) as Hanks’ prolific offense overwhelmed Irvin.
Evan Martinez, Ysleta: Martinez was a two-way standout in Ysleta’s loss to Bowie. As the QB, he passed for 104 yards, rushed for 42 yards and accounted for 2 TD. Defensively, he made a team-high 13 tackles.
Cam’ron Johnson, Americas: Johnson had 78 rushing yards and 112 receiving yards (190 total yards) in Americas’ triple OT loss to Montwood.
