However, that’s not where the list ends.
Two defensive linemen (including one making his varsity debut) and a defensive back are right there with those running backs after making some big-impact plays.
Malachi Washington Malachi Washington 6'2" | 185 lbs | DL SC RB, Myrtle Beach
No reason to bury one of Week 5’s lead stories. Washington (unofficially) ran for 233 yards in the lopsided win over previously undefeated Marion, tacking on five rushing touchdowns en route to his third 200-yard game of the season. On top of that, he was also used as a gunner off the edge on a would-be Swamp Foxes punt, blocking it before picking it up and taking it into the end zone for a sixth score in the game.
Chris Stewart Chris Stewart 6'5" | 200 lbs | DL Andrews | 2026 State SC DL, Andrews
Much like a year ago when he was a freshman, Andrews doesn’t need its 6-foot-5, 200 pound edge to be a high-volume tackles guy. Friday’s 46-6 win over Green Sea Floyds was a better indication of coach Scott Durham’s hopes for him. Stewart (pictured) had 3.5 total tackles (two solo) to go along with two tackles for loss and a forced fumble on a first-quarter kickoff after the Yellow Jackets had taken an 8-6 lead. The rout was on soon after.
Kamon Miller DB, Lamar
Miller helped spoil what was an otherwise fantastic night from Kingstree quarterback Ja’Shaun Dorsey (96 passing yards, 133 rushing yards, two touchdowns) by picking off a pair of passes in the Silver Foxes’ 18-16 victory. Miller now has three interceptions in the last three games, added to one he had against Andrew Jackson two weeks ago.
Kalil Johnson Kalil Johnson 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Carolina Forest | 2024 State SC RB, Carolina Forest
When Johnson started out the 2022 season opener by rushing for 144 yards, everyone wondered how far he could go. The rest of his year was curtailed by injuries and split carries and missed games. Friday was further proof he’s not letting his opportunity slide by this time around. Johnson ran for a career-high 183 yards and career-matching three touchdowns in the blowout win over North Myrtle Beach. Johnson will enter region play with three straight 100-yard games and five in six contests.
Anthony Cunningham DL, Carolina Forest
How’s this for a varsity debut? The sophomore was impressive in Saturday’s 42-20 win at North Myrtle Beach, recording three sacks and three tackles in the game. The best part was that Cunningham was called up from the junior varsity team Friday. The game was delayed a day due to weather, but the player described as varsity assistant Shane Dular as “unblockable” on the freshman and JV levels certainly played a big role in knocking the Chiefs off kilter.
Dominick Felton Dominick Felton 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Dillon | 2026 State SC RB, Dillon
Felton ended the scoring for the Wildcats in their 44-0 win over Marlboro County with a 54-yard touchdown run that locked in a running clock for the final quarter of the blowout. However, he’d already done plenty of damage prior even without reaching the end zone. Felton ended the game with 12 carries for 152 yards and that score.
Jamarion Fling Jamarion Fling 5'8" | 160 lbs | RB Dillon | 2025 State SC RB, Dillon
Fling had a reception for 36 yards and interception. Child’s play compared to his fantasy football-like monster evening. Fling, carried the ball 14 times against Marlboro County for 120 yards and five – yes, five – touchdowns. He had scoring runs of 1, 7, 3, 38 and 39 yards. Not a bad follow-up effort after he went for 203 yards and three touchdowns against Socastee last week.
