We're now a few weeks into the epic that is a high school football season. We've met the main characters, the protagonists, and have developed some thoughts on which ones will be still standing by the story's end. Every chapter is another chance to change the narrative, and make a statement. Who will make their move in Week 3? Here are some Lowcountry games we're keeping an eye on.

Frederica Academy (2-0) at Bluffton (1-1)

After taking last week off due to Woodland calling off school last Friday, the Bobcats are back in action in what would've been their bye week. They'll host an unbeaten Frederica side from Georgia and will look for a rebound performance on defense after giving up 41 to Jenkins two weeks ago. Hayden Gregory will look to linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='208337' first='Jeremiah' last='Curry'] to make the spark, who's racked up 15.5 tackles in just two games. The offense has been impressive so far, with Hilton Head transfer and versatile athlete [player_tooltip player_id='790404' first='Owen' last='Bayes'] leading the way at quarterback. He's been solid through the air and quite efficient on the ground, averaging 7.6 yards per carry early on in the year.

Beaufort (1-2) at Goose Creek (0-2)

Beaufort got off the schneid at Hilton Head last week with a gutsy 20-17 win, and will be back on the road this week at a Goose Creek team trying to do the same. But there's still some questions to be answered about this Bryce Lybrand's offense with [player_tooltip player_id='1254143' first='Samari' last='Bonds'] not at 100%. Expect the Eagles to ride the hot hand of [player_tooltip player_id='1025738' first='Jadyn' last='Andrews'], who went for 124 rushing yards and a key touchdown on 10 carries against the Seahawks. The defense is flying with stellar linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='809756' first='Will' last='Codding'] and breakout defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='816738' first='Jayden' last='Simmons'] who locked it down in the fourth quarter last week.

C.A. Johnson (2-1) at Hampton County (3-0)

The Hurricanes picked up a memorable win in the program's inaugural home game against Emerald on Friday and will welcome in an underrated C.A. Johnson side this week in Hampton. It'll be a tough task for the Hornets to slow down lethal running back [player_tooltip player_id='239076' first='Zion' last='Dobson'], who went off for a monstrous 290 rushing yards and three touchdowns in Week 2. [player_tooltip player_id='1360178' first='Keivonte' last='Bates'] might be up for that challenge after dominating North Central with his quickness and physicality at corner to make 13 total tackles. Hampton's defense has been terrific through three games, leaning on the electric play of big man Kavon Chisolm and an athletic [player_tooltip player_id='809743' first='Mandrell' last='Sanders'].

West Ashley (2-1) at Berkeley (2-1)

The Wildcats will have to put last week's tough defeat to Cane Bay behind them quickly in what could be a challenging road test at Berkeley. West Ashley loves to run the ball with senior back KJ Brown, who is a bruiser with tremendous strength and balance to fight off tacklers. The defense has been the Wildcats' strength this year, led by beastly defensive tackle/linebacker hybrid [player_tooltip player_id='208366' first='Terry' last='Grant'] and clutch athletic cornerback LB Bailey. The Stags should provide a strong challenge offensively with a pair of electric recievers in Tavon Frazier and [player_tooltip player_id='683478' first='Kayden' last='Bash'].

Hilton Head Christian Academy (0-2) at Ben Lippen (3-0)
It's been a tough start for Ron Peduzzi's Eagles in 2023, and it won't get much easier against a red-hot and undefeated Ben Lippen squad. The Falcons know how to get it done in close games and have won all three so far by one possession or less. Blake Bost set the tone on the ground last week against Pinewood Prep with an efficient five carries for 93 yards, and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1165156' first='Drake' last='Porter'] was a beast at linebacker with 15 total tackles. The Falcons have the tools to control the game defensively and shut down the ground game, putting the pressure on talented Eagle quarterback Dylan Clark to make some magic of his own.
