LaVista is a 6’2, 190 wide receiver from Libertyville who made multiple highlight reel catches over the weekend. LaVista is only a sophomore and is already garnering interest from some of the top Division I programs in the country after beginning his young high school football career. LaVista is extremely polished for a Class of 2026 athlete, showing off his elite speed, precision route running, and perhaps his best asset, the ability to make contested catches. Perhaps these skills translate from another sport, as LaVista also excels in basketball. As the 2023 season rolls on, more highlights are on the way from this Libertyville standout.
Highlights
Jacob Swartz
Jacob Swartz
Swartz has a monster game on Friday in Morris’ win over Kaneland. The 2024 running back ran for over 200 yards and scored twice. The 5’11, 180 lbs back has strong vision and a quick burst that makes him nearly impossible to tackle in the open field. He is extremely shifty but also possesses a strong running style that allows Swartz to run through tackles while always falling forward for extra yards. He weaves in and out of defenders smoothly, allowing him to make one cut, find an open window, and break off a long run. Through 3 weeks, Swartz is making a name for himself.
The Bolingbrook quarterback lit it up against, as the sophomore signal caller threw for 355 yards and 6 touchdowns last Friday. Williams stands at 6’3 and weighs 195 lbs. He has already received multiple Divison I offers as a sophomore. He displays tremendous poise and confidence both in and out of the pocket, as his lethal arm and dynamic legs make for a combination that is nearly impossible to stop. Through the first 3 weeks of the season, Williams has proven that there is not a throw on the field he can’t make. He’ll be sure to continue that trend throughout the fall.
Jaxon Lane
Jaxon Lane
The 5’10, 215 lbs middle linebacker had a night in Montini’s win over Nazareth. Lane finished the night with an impressive stat line: 5 tackles, 1 pass break up, one forced fumble, and one interception. The instinctual junior held down the middle of the Bronco defense, making an impact in both the pass game and the run game. He showcased his smooth coverage all night, sinking in the middle of the field and robbing underneath throws. In the run game, Lane’s physical and downhill style helped stymie the Roadrunner’s stout rushing attack. Keep an eye out for the 2025 backer throughout the season.
Davon Grant
Davon Grant
Grant had himself a night on both sides of the ball. The sophomore two-way player scored twice for the Barbs, once on offense and once on defense. Offensively, Grant fell just short of a 100 yards receiving, averaging 18 yards per reception on the night. He possesses elite speed and the ability to gain yards after the catch. Defensively, he took an interception 100 yards the other way. Additionally, Grant provided physicality in the run game all night, setting the edge and stopping opposing running backs and wide receivers in their tracks. While Grant is young, his stock is absolutely soaring after last week’s performance.
