Continue ReadingI traveled to the neighboring town of LeSueur-Henderson to watch a battle of AA teams. LeSueur was 0-1 heading into the game and Pipestone was 1-0. The game ended up being without a doubt the best game I have seen while covering for PrepRedzone! A missed PAT sent the game into OT where Pipestone managed to squeeze by in an epic 34-33 battle. There were plenty of offensive bright spots for both teams, so meet the standouts!
WR: Austin Musch 6’2″ 170 2026 Pipestone
Musch was the owner of the first TD for the Arrows, and he did it in style. Bringing down a high ball in contested traffic made for an epic way to start the night. His name was called a few more times throughout the game as well. Musch was consistently open on deep and intermediate routes and is a young outstate name scouts should keep an eye on.

WR: Rysley Borman 6’2″ 185 lbs 2024 Pipestone
Borman was without question the star of the show last night. He brought in several TDs and even a key INT to stop the Giant’s momentum right before the half. He found himself wide open all night long as none of the Giant’s DBs could keep up with him, especially on deeper routes. He has a great vertical and does a nice job of high-pointing difficult passes. Borman is an athlete who needs more attention.

QB: Landon Quist Landon Quist 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Pipestone Area | 2025 State MN 6’4″ 185 lbs 2025 Pipestone
The Arrows QB found himself in several difficult positions at times, but he utilized both his arms and legs to help the Arrows find a W. Quist had several passing touchdowns throughout the night, often heaving the ball deep downfield to find a dangerous open WR. When the pocket collapsed, Quist didn’t panic, he moved outside, scanned downfield, and if nothing was open he’d scramble for an additional 4-5 yards. Pipestone has a solid future with this QB under center.

RB: Hayden Brooke 5’8″ 165 lbs 2025 Pipestone
Brooke may not be the biggest back in the world, but his effort throughout the entire game lands himself on this list. While he certainly didn’t look bad as a ball carrier, as he often made 1-2 quick cuts between the tackles finding himself positive yardage, he looked best in pass-pro. Brooke would eagerly take on much bigger defenders and stonewall them at the point of attack. His effort and attitude were a key reason why the pocket would stay clean for as long as it did.

WR: James Wagner 6′ 160 lbs 2026 LeSueur-Henderson
On multiple occasions, Wagner found himself on the receiving end of some touchdowns. Throughout the night Wagner had proven himself the favorite target, as he repeatedly brought down contested catches and extended plays by racking up YAC. He’s a solid athlete with a bright future if he continues to put in the work and grow.

QB: Brody Berndt 6′ 175 lbs 2025 LeSueur-Henderson
I was more than impressed with Berndt’s performance last night. He threw a couple of interceptions sure, but he was surprisingly accurate, had a big arm, and showed off some high football IQ at times. He had some serious pocket escapability and would stand and deliver strikes even if he knew he was going to get rocked on a big hit. MIAC schools should take a serious look at Berndt.

RB: Luke Miller 5’10” 150 lbs 2026 LeSueur-Henderson
The RB1 for the Giants was a bell-cow early on in the game. In the LeSueur system of 21 personnel, ground and pound style, Miller did the job perfectly. It may not be sexy to repeatedly get 4, 5, or 6 yards, but Miller could run the ball downfield all night long if asked. He showed no issues lowering his shoulder upon contact and did a great job of moving his feet when the first defender hit him. I like LeSueur’s future.

TE: Connor Schultz 6’1″ 165 lbs 2024 LeSueur-Henderson
The second-favorite target of Berndt, Schultz surprised me early on in the game. The Giants began with a powerful run attack but switched it up in the second quarter. This shift saw Schultz go from a solid blocking tight end to a good receiving one. He’s not making one-handed catches over the back pylon, but he is bringing down short to intermediate balls and protecting them well through contact. Another kid MIAC schools should look at.
