Continue ReadingThere were a ton of huge offensive performances in the Upstate zone in Week Two, but some stood out from the others. As in, if your offense couldn’t produce at least five scores, you were most likely dropping a game, because these guys all had at least four.
Here’s a look at those video game numbers, along with what this week might hold for last week’s offensive standouts.
Chris Hall RB, Greer
Hall was pressed into service due to a couple of injuries for the Yellow Jackets, and boy did he ever produce. He ran for 261 yards and four touchdowns on just 18 carries, averaging 14.5 yards per attempt and generally just destroying the Blue Ridge rush defense while he was in the game. This week, the Yellow Jackets take on Byrnes, and Hall will likely find the going tougher. But if he can find anything even half as good against Chris Foster Chris Foster 6'0" | 205 lbs | DL Byrnes | 2024 State SC , RJ Livingston RJ Livingston 5'9" | 185 lbs | LB Byrnes | 2025 SC , and the Rebels, he’ll be one to watch.
Josh Sims QB, Blacksburg
Sims showed exactly what kinds of strides he’s making in Blacksburg’s new spread offensive attack under head coach Josh Batcheler. He threw for 344 yards and six TDs in a big win over Cherryville, finding two different receivers for more than 120 yards and two scores each. This week, the Wildcats visit 1A No. 1 Lewisville, and Sims will get a test. The Lions have surrendered 24 points all season, and all of those came at the hands of 2A power Oceanside Collegiate. Lewisville comes in off back-to-back shutouts with a stingy defense. Joaquan Howze Joaquan Howze 6'0" | 180 lbs | LB Lewisville | 2024 State SC and Daquan Evans both have at least 30 tackles, and the Lions have already picked off five passes.
Tushawan Richardson Tushawan Richardson 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Clinton | 2025 State SC QB, Clinton
In Clinton’s pistol-spread offensive system, QBs are called upon to keep defenses honest. Richardson did much more than that last week, completing 10-of-15 passes for 141 yards and three TDs in a win over Newberry, rushing for 72 yards and another score. The Red Devils don’t always get that kind of balance from their QB, but they don’t always need it, either. This week against Aiken will give Richardson yet another chance to shine. The Hornets haven’t played well, and they’ve given up nearly 50 points per game. Richardson with a chance to build more confidence is a dangerous proposition for Clinton’s opponents.
Jay Stoker Jay Stoker 6'1" | 205 lbs | QB Easley | 2026 State SC QB, Easley
Stoker lit up the scoreboard and the Easley record books on Friday, throwing for 347 yards and six touchdowns. That was good for the third-most yards by an Easley QB in more than three decades, a tie for the most TDs ever, and the most points in the history of Bill Carr Stadium. There’s a much tougher test coming up this week as the Green Wave faces J.L. Mann. Mann’s explosive offense produces points in bunches, and might necessitate another big night from Stoker.
Colten Bagwell Colten Bagwell 5'8" | 170 lbs | QB Wren | 2025 State SC QB, Wren
Bagwell didn’t air it out too much against Seneca, completing just 9-of-13 passes, but he made the most of his chances. Three of those completions went for touchdowns as he threw for 128 yards, and he added 122 on the ground, scoring two more times and averaging 8.7 yards per carry. This week the Hurricanes will need him again, as a tough T.L. Hanna team comes into the matchup off a loss to Westside.
