Here’s a look at some standouts from this game:
Logan Wright
Logan Wright
Wright popped the first time I saw him play. He’s continued developing and has become a difference maker on both sides of the ball. He could project on offense or defense at the next level. The frame and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect. He appears to embrace physicality and contact.
Hosch’s athleticism makes him a threat on both sides of the ball. He lines up at quarterback and free safety for the Cougars. The latter would be a good fit for him in the future. The senior sees the field well from the back end of the defense, which is probably aided by his experience running offense.
Cale Seydel
Cale Seydel
Seydel’s toughness stands out. The two-way player makes up for a lack of bulk by being a quick-twitch athlete capable of making defenders miss with the ball in his hands and locking down in coverage. In this game, he intercepted a pass, caught five balls for 42 yards and a touchdown, and rushed once for eight yards.
Brennen Dale
Brennen Dale
Dale looks to have that “it” factor we see in successful signal callers. He commands the offense. He completed 12 of 19 passes for 114 yards and a score, and rushed for 21 yards and a TD. The sophomore makes good decisions. He holds the mesh point well with good deception in RPO. He shows good accuracy. Dale is a QB on which to keep an eye as he develops physically and gains knowledge.
Nathan Schockemoehl
Nathan Schockemoehl
Schockemoehl was another player who showed potential on both sides of the ball. He displayed a well-rounded skill set and instincts at middle linebacker. The ceiling might be even higher at tight end, where he proved to be a match-up problem for West Branch before the Bears began double-teaming him.
Reese Trepanier
Reese Trepanier
Trepanier is one of the better athletes at West Branch. He’s skilled on the basketball court and also excels on the gridiron. The senior paves the way for the Bears’ offensive attack as a center that can run and pass block. On defense, he lines up at middle linebacker, where he diagnosis plays well and flows smoothly to the ball.
Mick Hoffman
Mick Hoffman
Hoffman is an interesting prospect. He’s a long-limbed cornerback at this level with strong coverage skills. That leaves open the possibility of switching to safety down the road should he add mass. His skill set also translates to offense, where he shows potential as a receiver.
