Charlie McGinnis Charlie McGinnis 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Brophy College Preparatory | 2024 AZ , Brophy ’24
McGinnis did exactly what he needed to do to rise his stock and get his name heard out there based off his performance Friday night. Against another top gunslinger vs Sunnyslope, McGinnis played lights out and threw for 210 yards and 3 TD’s while adding another TD on the ground. His 4 total TD night led Brophy to an impressive 49-7 blowout win over Sunnyslope. This was the exact performance he and his team needed from him, and they’re starting to create a buzz.
Navi Bruzon Navi Bruzon 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Liberty | 2024 State AZ , Liberty ’24
No surprise here as Bruzon has a strong performance once again. He has this tendency to make everything look easy both on the ground and through the air. I’m starting to feel for the kid, as he dominates so quick that he rarely gets to unleash what he can do for all 4 quarters given the score most of the time. Ona 56-0 blowout, Bruzon went 6/11 for 117 yards. He did his best work on the ground with every opportunity he got, and that was three times. He carried the rock 3 times for 28 yards and 3 TD’s, scoring every time he took off.
Blake Heffron Blake Heffron 5'9" | 165 lbs | ATH Chandler | 2024 State AZ , Chandler ’24
Heffron has continued to make his name a big topic around AZ, and he’s making that case again this week over a big win vs Orange Lutheran (CA). He went 8/16 for 93 yards but did his best work on the ground, rushing for 84 yards on 16 carries and two TD’s. He does an excellent job reading the edge and knowing when to pull or give, and flashes a nice burst with solid twitch and vision, making himself a threat as a ball carrier. A new name to keep track off all year long as the dual threat continues to impress.
Brennan Bryant, Snowflake ’24
Bryant led that Snowflake offense to a big 55-17 win over Show Low, which is a highly anticipated game up north every year even though Snowflake was bumped up to 4A a year ago. He diced up that Show Low defense for 241 yards and 2 TD’s and flashed a ton of competitiveness and command all night. An impressive performance during a big game for Snowflake.
Zack Jones, Horizon ’25
Jones made a name himself Friday night, being the key player that ignited the 59-0 blowout vs Willow Canyon. Almost as perfect as it gets, he only threw 8 times but completed 7 of them, ultimately totaling 7/8 for 208 yards and 4 TD’s. He sizes up with a long, slender frame at 6’5″ 185lbs and has a lot more room to add mass. Ideal college size pocket passer that should draw attention itself, and he’ll have a huge opportunity to rise his stock moving forward.
