junior quarterback of Cutter Morning Star is a player to watch out for this season with an abundance of talent and leadership. He plays in an 8 man league that switches to 11 man football next season. That hasn’t stopped him from gaining the attention of major colleges across the country. Peyton is 6’2″, 160-pound with a 3.8 GPA. He says that the big difference in 8 man and 11 man football is you have less protection and have to have a quick release of the ball.
Also there are 2 extra guys that cover the secondary. Peyton says that he is excited for the change from 8 man to 11 man football. Last season, he passed for 2,124 yards and 22 touchdowns as a sophomore. Peyton attended camps this past summer at the University of Arkansas, University of Central Arkansas, Henderson State and the Prep Red Zone Arkansas Camp. So far this year Peyton has visited the University of Arkansas and Lyon College.
Next summer, he is planning on attending the University of Arkansas, Mississippi State University, Arkansas State University, University of Central Arkansas and others not yet determined. What separates Peyton from other quarterbacks in the state is his accuracy, quick release and the ability to throw deep or short game. Peyton’s individual goals for this season are to throw for 3,000 yards with over 25 touchdowns and less than 3 interceptions with a team goal of winning a state championship.
His strengths is quick release, accuracy and being able to make something out of nothing. His work ethic and throwing constantly is what makes him the player that he is. Peyton’s brother Jordan who plays quarterback for Southwest Junior College in Mississippi has influenced him the most in his football career along with his father. He shows his leadership on the field by building up his teammates and keeping them motivated. What Peyton loves about playing football is the love of the sport, the thrill of the game and the brotherhood of his teammates.
When speaking with Peyton’s head coach Nick Finley he says that Peyton is a very accurate passer and he makes it look effortlessly with his mobility in the pocket which opens up big plays down the field. He feels that Peyton can go to any college program and compete. The kid is a competitor that works his tail off. coach Finley feels that Peyton can throw anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 yards this season but says that Peyton isnt worried as much for his numbers but more importantly determined to win.
He feels that Peyton’s strengths is his Football IQ, smart decision making, his mobility in the pocket, his being accurate as a passer and his leadership. Peyton takes control of the offense and helps with organizing and setting up the offense. He makes pass protection and run blocks for the O-Line while processing the defense and how they will be aligned. Peyton was voted captain by his peers, teammates and leads by example.
Coach Finley says that Peyton is a dude. He says that he has coached football for 15 years in Arkansas and Peyton is one of those quarterbacks that you dream of having on your team. He makes my job easier!!! He is a competitor and puts in a lot of work to perfect his craft. Peyton’s older brother Jordan Mills has tought him a lot by watching him and going through qb Drills since they were both young. His dad, Josh Mills has done an amazing job providing them with anything they need in developing their skills and studying film any chance they get. Coach Finley is excited to see his hard work pay off this season.
I feel that Peyton is a quarterback that many colleges will need to watch out for as he prepares for the next level of play.
