District 2:
Delaware Valley vs. Downingtown East
In this great non-conference matchup, we have the Delaware Valley Warriors looking to win No.1 on their season as they take on the Downingtown East Cougars, who are 2-0 on the season. Despite the tough start to their season, Del Val is still one of the better District 2 programs and should have a strong season this fall.
The key matchup we will be watching in this one is how Downingtown East linebacker Ryan Shannon Ryan Shannon 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Downingtown East | 2024 State PA can match up with Delaware Valley tight end Aiden Black Aiden Black 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Delaware Valley | 2024 State PA , a Stanford commit in pass coverage. Black is one of the best tight ends in the entire state of Pennsylvania and should be a strong test for this Downingtown East defense. Through two games this season, Black has two receptions for 19 yards. Through the early weeks, he notably has been more productive on the defensive side of the ball with nine tackles, including 3.0 sacks. It would be intriguing to see him line up potentially against Ryan Konchek Ryan Konchek 6'3" | 225 lbs | OL Downingtown East | 2024 State PA or Adham Abouraya Adham Abouraya 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Downingtown East | 2024 State PA when on defense. Justin Klatisnik is another player to watch for Delaware Valley in this one.
Crestwood vs. Wyoming Area
Another quality matchup here in District 2 is Crestwood vs. Wyoming Area. Crestwood is off to a slow start this year and has struggled in second halves, while Wyoming Valley is off to a 2-0 start. The matchup that I’d really like to watch here is how Crestwood can contain Wyoming Area running back Aaron Crossley Aaron Crossley 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Wyoming Area | 2024 State PA . Linebacker Lincoln Bibla Lincoln Bibla 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Crestwood | 2025 PA will be a key player on that Crestwood defense to watch this week.
District 4:
Jersey Shore vs. Selinsgrove
A matchup of a pair of 2-0 teams looking to vie for conference supremacy this fall. Jersey Shore’s offense has been unstoppable this season, much like last year, averaging over 500 yards of total offense over their first two games. Selingsgove has a pretty strong offense themselves, averaging 30 points per game and over 350 yards of total offense. But can the Seals’ defense stop the Bulldogs enough to keep them in this one?
Plenty of talent to watch in this game, including Jersey Shore’s Elijah Jordan Elijah Jordan 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Jersey Shore | 2025 State PA , Jerrin Looms, and Dyson Delaney Dyson Delaney 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Jersey Shore | 2024 State PA , while Selinsgrove features a great backfield duo of Mark Pastore Mark Pastore 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Selinsgrove | 2024 State PA and Tucker Teats Tucker Teats 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Selinsgrove | 2024 State PA .
Southern Columbia vs. Loyalsock Township
There will be talent all up and down the field in this one, with over 10 players between the two teams ranked in our class rankings. Southern Columbia, looking to defend their crown, is off to a phenomenal start, outscoring their opponents 91-0 so far this season. They’ll have their biggest challenge yet this season in Loyalsock on Friday night. After surviving Berks Catholic in week one, Loyalsock defeated Hughesville last week 46-0, setting up this big early-season matchup against Southern Columbia.
Key matchups in this one include Loyalsock wide receivers Jamaire Harden Jamaire Harden 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Loyalsock Township | 2024 State PA and Jaylen Andrews Jaylen Andrews 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Loyalsock Township | 2024 State PA against Southern Columbia’s Jacob Hoy Jacob Hoy 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Southern Columbia | 2024 State PA . Likewise, can Logan Bastian Logan Bastian 5'10" | 165 lbs | LB Loyalsock Township | 2024 State PA and the Loyalsock Township defense slow down Blake Wise Blake Wise 6'1" | 155 lbs | QB Southern Columbia | 2024 State PA and Garrett Garcia Garrett Garcia 6'0" | LB Southern Columbia | 2024 State PA in the Tigers backfield?
District 6
Penn Cambria vs. Forest Hills
These two programs had a tremendous matchup last season in which Penn Cambria came out on top 49-34. This year, they’re 1-1 after losing to Richland in week one; they bounced back for a 34-3 last weekend over Phillipsburg-Osceol. Forest Hills is 2-0, on the other hand, after collecting wins over Greater Johnstown and Clearfield over their first two weeks.
Forest Hills is a team I’d like to dig more into, but QB Nate Cornell Nate Cornell 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Forest Hills | 2025 State PA is intriguing, as is linebacker Xander Richardson. For Penn Cambrai, wide receiver Gavin Harrold Gavin Harrold 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Penn Cambria | 2025 State PA is a name that stands out, as well as running backs Thomas Punkett and Drew Mardula.
State College vs. Hollidaysburg
Another matchup full of talent, this will be a fun one in Hollidaysburg on Friday night. State College is off to a quality start this season, especially offensively, while the Hollidaysburg defense has been strong to start the season.
State College has several of the best talents in the state, including RB D’Antae Sheffey D’Antae Sheffey 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Harrisburg | 2026 State PA , TE Jake Hohenshelt Jake Hohenshelt 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL State College | 2024 State PA , and LB Michael Gaul Michael Gaul 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB State College | 2025 State PA . For Hollidaysburg, wide receiver Caden DeLattre Caden DeLattre 6'2" | 160 lbs | WR Hollidaysburg | 2024 State PA is a standout to know, as is offensive lineman Hunter Albright Hunter Albright 6'5" | 310 lbs | OL Hollidaysburg | 2025 State PA and wide receiver Gavin Bell.
