9/15 6pm at Atlantic City
Atlantic City is a team that can put up some points. With a lot of offensive firepower, it is hard to stop them when they get going. Atlantic City’s pass game in particular is something Mainland has to worry about. Quarterback Joe Lyons has been slinging the rock early in this season, already tossing 808 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. Luckily, Joe has some exceptional talent on the receiving end of his throws. 2025 WR Sah’nye Degraffenreidt is not easy to stop, as he’s already caught 6 receiving touchdowns and has 375 receiving yards on the season. Atlantic City also has an impressive defensive player in Yamdry Hernandez. The junior has been bringing pressure on the QB all year and has got to him 3 times so far.
As good as Atlantic City has been, Mainland has been one of the most impressive teams in the state through the early weeks of the season. Mainland has not only put up 93 points so far, but have only allowed a single touchdown through three games. They have shut out the last two opponents. Hoping to continue the trend, sophomore Liam Kennedy will continue to put in work, as he has forced a fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown. Cohen Cook Cohen Cook 6'1" | 190 lbs | LB Mainland | 2024 State NJ has been making an impact closer to the line, as he has racked up two sacks and has also forced a fumble. Mainland’s firepower on offense comes from their run game. Rocco Debiaso and Stephen Ordille Stephen Ordille 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Mainland | 2024 State NJ have combined for 6 touchdowns and 528 yards on the ground. Mainland has the potential to make a run this year.
Cedar Creek (3-0) vs. Camden Eastside (2-1)
9/16 1pm at Camden Eastside
The final matchup of the week I am covering is between two teams with loaded rosters. Similar to Atlantic City, Cedar Creek is another team that can put up a ton of points. The least amount of points they have put up so far this year was 33. A balanced offense that can make plays in the pass and run game, there is a lot to worry about when going up against Cedar Creek. Senior Billy Smith Billy Smith 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Cedar Creek | 2024 State NJ has been holding it down at the QB position for his team. With 789 passing yards and 9 passing touchdowns, Billy can also hurt you on the ground as he has also rushed for 3 touchdowns. With Amir Parks and Darius Benjamin Darius Benjamin 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Cedar Creek | 2025 State NJ to throw to, this team can move down the field seamlessly. The two have combined for 8 of Billy’s 9 touchdowns, and 642 of the yards. Finally, Amir Dunbar has been running all over defenses as he has accumulated 407 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Expect another high score from Cedar Creek this weekend.
Camden Eastside has had two close wins on the season and a 7-28 loss to Shawnee. Camden Eastside has a challenging schedule ahead of them, so coming out with a win at home would be huge for this team. Luckily, they have three home games in a row which should help them build some momentum into the latter part of the season. Pay attention to William Love William Love 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Camden Eastside | 2024 State NJ , as he is one of the best all around players in the state.
