As the season heads into the third week, highlighting new names is key to expanding the state's prospect pool. The quarterback position usually comes with the brightest spotlight and toughest expectations, but not all signal callers have equal reputations.

This article will list five lesser-known junior quarterbacks who have put on noteworthy performances through the first two weeks of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='547636' first='Mason' last='Kiewiet'] | Westminster | 2025

Kiewiet is perhaps the more known player on this list, but he is still a low-flyer on the prospect radar. So far, he has tallied 50 completions on 76 passing attempts for 861 yards (state-high) and ten touchdowns with 75 rushing attempts for 339 yards and five touchdowns. He is light on his feet in the pocket and displays accurate ball placement. His athleticism makes him a mobile duel-threat QB who can do damage through the air and on the ground. Kiewiet will enter week three, game four for Westminster, with a total of 1,200 yards to his name, making him a must-watch player as the season continues.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366191' first='Marcus' last='Price'] | Ponderosa | 2025

Price is a newcomer to the radar who has shown solid consistency so far, throwing a similar number of passes and touchdowns with about a 70-yard difference between the first two games. He has completed 31 of his 48 attempts for 607 yards (fourth-most) and seven touchdowns. His playing style looks to be more pocket-passing, but he does have the athleticism to scoot when needed. Price has a strong arm with the ability to place the ball in spots that enable his receivers to make the catch in stride, making him an under-the-radar player with significant potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='1296071' first='Joe' last='Steiner'] | Eaglecrest | 2025

Steiner is a 6-foot-4 QB with a snappy release and surprisingly accurate ball placement. It is common for tall QBs to have issues with their throwing motions, but his ability to zip out side-armed throws makes him extremely effective in the quick game, while his arm strength helps him spin a nice deep ball. Steiner's 26 completions on 34 attempts for 398 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions make him a player to circle, especially once league play begins.

[player_tooltip player_id='1296079' first='Isaiah' last='Medina'] | Riverdale Ridge | 2025

Medina is a QB who is decisive with his reads and does an excellent job of getting the ball out quickly. He displays the type of athleticism that makes him a running threat if things break down. Through the first two games, he has completed 24 of his 32 pass attempts for 375 yards and six touchdowns while adding two rushing touchdowns to his stats. Medina is a rising QB with a talented group of young players around him, making him a player to note as the season progresses.

[player_tooltip player_id='1035285' first='Derek' last='Gordon'] | Castle View | 2025

Gordon is a very impressive passer who possesses the ability to alter his throws to the situation. He does a fantastic job at throwing while on the run, and the touch he can put on the ball is pretty impressive. His understanding of the game and what's going on around him helps him to make smart plays and protect the football. Through the first two games of the season, he has completed 35 of his 43 attempts for 291 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Gordon may be a newer name on the radar, but he has shown the poise of an experienced game manager.

As the season heads into the third week, highlighting new names is key to expanding the state's prospect pool. The quarterback position usually comes with the brightest spotlight and toughest expectations, but not all signal callers have equal reputations.
