A lightning delay and flag-frenzied start combined to hamper a pair of high-profile Class 4A programs with championship tradition and aspirations until after 9 p.m.

But home-standing Westgate finally broke through for a score, weathered a second-half Evangel Christian push and pulled away in the fourth for a 34-12 victory with huge plays in all three phases.

[player_tooltip player_id='710071' first='Jaboree' last='Antoine'] | 6-2, 180 DB/ATH | Westgate (2025)

The highly touted 2025 defensive back prospect kept the offense attacking despite early frustrations with the number of penalty flags, including calls negating passing and rushing touchdowns he appeared to score in the second quarter. Antoine broke free again for the game's first points, showing his quickness to get outside and speed up the sideline to the pylon, and helped the Tigers hold on to their lead late with a big defensive plays in the fourth quarter on a fourth-down pass breakup and leaping end-zone interception.

Armidre Evans | 5-11, 160 DB | Westgate (2024)

The long, lean defensive back provided the evening's first big play with an interception stepping in front of his receiver on a route across the middle of the field to set a strong defensive tone early. Evans played well throughout the night, including tight coverage on a successful defense of a potential game-tying Evangel two-point attempt.

[player_tooltip player_id='914094' first='Tavias' last='Gordon'] | 5-10, 185 RB | Westgate (2025)

The junior running back scored a pair of touchdowns on the night, one tough run through contact near the goal line and another dancing free through traffic and then opening up his breakaway speed for the long score. The threat he provides alongside Antoine in the backfield compounds headaches for opposing defenses in picking their poison with a pair of Power Five athletes able to score from anywhere on the field.

D'mariyan Jackson | 6-2, 210 LB | Westgate (2025)

The Tigers' defense was stout all night at all three levels, allowing just one scoring drive and snatching a handful of takeaways. The linebacking corps flew around and hurried Evangel quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='407770' first='Peyton' last='Fulghum'] for much of the night. And, in addition to his pressure off the edge, Jackson stepped up with some high-impact plays on a recovered fumble and a blocked extra point.

Kaegan Kent | K | Evangel Christian (2025)

The Eagles' specialist helped provide some spark on special teams with a pair of successful onside kicks in the third quarter, the first to open the half and another later in the period both of which his teammates had far clearer opportunities to secure before anyone on the return team.

Dy'traevous Lively | 5-10, 215 LB | Westgate (2025)

"Spida," the all-state linebacker as a sophomore, flew around on defense, showing his quickness, anticipation and versatility stopping run, bringing pressure or working in space in coverage. And he showed some versatility to the other side of the ball as well, taking snaps in the Tigers' "gorilla package" near the goal line, hitting the hole with purpose and bursting into the end zone for the team's final touchdown of the night.

[player_tooltip player_id='285618' first='Gabriel' last='Reliford'] | 6-2, 250 DL | Evangel Christian (2024)

The Texas A&M-committed defensive end, also being heavily pursued by LSU, showed early and often why he's increasingly become considered one of the state's top senior prospects. Reliford was quick, strong and constant in his pressure off the edge en route to at least four tackles for loss between his sacks and other big stuffs on running plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220987' first='Amari' last='Simon'] | 5-10, 170 DB | Westgate (2025)

Simon entered this season as another key player to watch after a productive sophomore season that included 24 tackles behind the line. He played well in all three phases, including showing his toughness to power through and over Eagles' attempted tackles in the return game and as a receiver.

[player_tooltip player_id='678307' first='Andre' last='Williams'] | 6-0, 210 LB | Westgate (2024)

The Tigers' big, physical linebacker and leader was among the long list of Tigers helping get into the Evangel backfield, apply pressure and hurry Fulghum. But his most memorable play of the night came on special teams when he chased down, scooped and scored a high snap that had sailed over the Eagles' punter's head.

[player_tooltip player_id='421531' first='Tyreek' last='Robinson'] | 5-9, 150 DB/WR | Evangel Christian (2024)

The speedy three-phase standout put his Eagles on the board with a long, winding kickoff return in the third quarter, one of two or three nice returns on the night to go with his receptions that helped [player_tooltip player_id='407770' first='Peyton' last='Fulghum'] and the passing game get going, even as Westgate locked in on containing [player_tooltip player_id='285620' first='Parker' last='Fulghum'] and forcing Evangel to look elsewhere.
