Ascension Catholic and Dunham battled back and forth, each claiming two-score leads, before the latter managed to hold off its hosts, 29-28, with a goal-line takeaway in the final minute.
Bronson Bonneval | 6-0, 170 DB | Dunham (2025)
The Tigers found themselves on their heels late, as Ascension Catholic marched down the field on a potential game-winning drive in the final minutes. But knocking at the goal line, the Bulldogs took a shot toward the back corner, and the junior defensive back made a nice play on the ball, secured the interception and kept his feet in bounds to seal the victory.
Drew Bourgeois | 5-9, 160 WR/DB | Dunham (2024)
One of the notable three-phase standouts on this list, the Tigers’ senior’s highlights included a 33-yard catch-and-run for the team’s first passing play, a 30-yard kickoff return in the second quarter and a third-quarter fumble recovery on which he pounced quickly after teammate Richard Montgomery Jr. Richard Montgomery Jr. 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Dunham | 2026 State LA ‘s strip of an Ascension Catholic receiver.
Travis Cedotal Travis Cedotal 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Ascension Catholic | 2024 LA . | 6-3, 290 OL | Ascension Catholic (2024)
The senior left tackle was the anchor to the Bulldogs’ big, physical offensive line that held its own against a top-five team from a classification above, with most of their bigger plays — both rushes and passes — seeming to go to his side of the field. In addition to his pass protection and run blocking, he showed a good feel and mobility for getting out in front of screens and setting up and exploding into blocks to spring big gains.
Jac Comeaux Jac Comeaux 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Dunham | 2024 State LA Jr. | 5-11, 160 WR | Dunham (2024)
The Georgetown commit hauled in seven receptions for 192 yards and three touchdowns, with each score showcasing a different aspect of his game from his well-run route in the red zone and leaping grab in the back of the end zone, to his ability to stretch the field with his vertical speed and his feel to set up and loose a defender on a scramble situation and get free up the sideline.
Chad Elzy Chad Elzy 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Ascension Catholic | 2025 State LA | 5-10, 175 ATH | Ascension Catholic (2025)
The Bulldogs’ speedy three-phase standout rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns, added 96 yards receiving on shorter throws with lots of yards after the catch, provided a threat in the return game and played well on the back end of the secondary. Elzy is an underrated standout in the 2025 class and played huge —which became increasingly necessary when fellow junior star Demarcus Gant Demarcus Gant 5'11" | 160 lbs | ATH Ascension Catholic | 2025 State LA exited with an injury.
Elijah Haven Elijah Haven 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Dunham | 2027 State LA | 6-4, 190 QB | Dunham (2027)
The freshman quarterback is one of the early stars of Louisiana’s 2027 class and looked the part with his arm talent on well-placed throws to every level, but also his athleticism and poise extending plays with his eyes still downfield. Haven led his team back from a two-score deficit to a two score lead, threw three touchdowns passes and ran for another.
Jackson Landry | 6-5, 210 TE/DE/P | Ascension Catholic (2024)
The big ULM baseball commit — a pitcher, first baseman, outfielder on the diamond — stood out physically from warm-ups, even on a small-school team with notable size in the trenches. And he made plays in all three phases as a go-to weapon for cousin Jake Landry not only as a big target near the goal line, where he caught a two-point conversion, but also running well enough to turn screen plays into bigger gains. A third-down tackle for loss highlighted his defensive performance, and he punted well including one downed right at the goal line by Christopher Anthens.
Mace Melancon | 5-10, 180 LB | Ascension Catholic (2025)
The junior linebacker flew around, helped bring some pressure to Haven and made pivotal plays such as second-quarter fumble recovery and solid return as the Bulldogs took control of the game and then a fourth-down sack in the fourth quarter as they regained momentum and attempted to mount their comeback. And he added a diving catch for late two-point conversion to pull back within one point.
Louis Phillips Louis Phillips 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Dunham | 2024 State LA | 6-4, 240 DL | Dunham (2024)
The Tigers’ senior defensive lineman showed a quick get-off into the backfield to disrupt Ascension Catholic plays early — slowing down runners the game’s first two plays from scrimmage and allowing teammates to swarm for big stops — and often — including a third-quarter hurry that helped force a punt as Dunham mounted its comeback.
Trevin Simon Trevin Simon 5'8" | 170 lbs | ATH Ascension Catholic | 2026 State LA | 5-8, 150 RB/DB | Ascension Catholic (2026)
The sophomore stepped up in the absence of Gant and provided the Bulldogs another speedy weapon, particularly in the return game where he brought one kickoff out near midfield and one punt across the 50 into Dunham territory.
