Early, Osterbauer ran a hook route for a catch and a first down. In the second half, he made the play of the game by picking off a tipped pass in the end zone and returned it 105 yards for a touchdown. Later, he stuffed a run for a short gain. Late in the game, he caught a pass in the flat, hurdled a tackler, and stuck the landing to pick up an extra five yards.
Highlights
Early, DeSutter threw a great block on the outside to spring Bartosh. Then, he made a catch in the flat and quickly turned up-field for twenty yards. On defense, he had great coverage and deflected a short out route. He showed excellent hand-eye coordination when he got his feet in bounds and made a one-handed catch on the sidelines to convert on a fourth and three. On a third and long, the senior made a catch on a deep post route while being double-covered. Late in the game, he caught a short pass on the outside and trucked a possible tackler, knocking the defender to the ground.
Highlights
Pederson was a force on the inside all game. The inside of the Lightning’s offensive line struggled against the sophomore all night. His penetration on fourth and short makes a tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Then, he made a tackle in the backfield and later stuffed another inside run. He got down the line of scrimmage to stuff a run on third and short. He made similar plays near the goal line. Then, he got down the line of scrimmage for another tackle for loss, followed by another stop near the goal line. Late in the game, he put pressure on the quarterback, forcing a bad throw.

Bredeson Cooke
Cooke came off the edge and across the formation to make a tackle for a short gain. Later, he kept outside leverage on a rollout pass and knocked down a pass. Later, he combined with Owen Johnson to make a tackle on the outside for a short gain.
All night, Kelvie was accurate, throwing short balls on the move. He showed nice touch on a pass down the sidelines for a touchdown. He threw another rollout pass down to the one-yard line. He hit a deep out to pick up a first down. He picked up yards with his feet, too. He scrambled for a first down, picked up good yardage up the middle on a quarterback draw, and ran the option well – making a pitch just as he was hit.

Bartosh broke multiple tackles on a forty-yard run. After a fifteen-yard run, he made a pair of quick cuts at the line-of-scrimmage to turn a short gain into five yards. Late in the game, he made a cut at the line of scrimmage, followed by a broken tackle to pick up nine yards.

Mahannah did a lot of damage in the middle of the field. He ran a hook route for a catch and a first down. He made another short reception in the middle of the field, but he got up-field quickly to set up a first and goal at the one. On fourth down, he caught a pass for a touchdown. Late, he made a catch on the outside for fifteen yards.
Owen Johnson
Owen Johnson
Johnson made an athletic play that nearly got the Lightning back in the game. He kept contain on the quarterback who was rolling out. The senior picked off the pass when the quarterback tried to flip the ball over Johnson’s head to a nearby receiver.
Grady Guida
Grady Guida
On fourth and six, Guida rolled out and threw a touchdown pass. Later, under extreme pressure, he threw a dart while being hit for a completion and a first down. He threw another completion on the move for fifteen yards. He should have been tackled in the backfield on another fourth down, but he used a spin move to pick up five yards and a first down.
Matthew McGrath
Matthew McGrath
McGrath made an 11-yard touchdown catch. Later, he made a catch in the flat, broke a tackle, and picked up a first down. More importantly, he got out of bounds to stop the clock. He showed great concentration and hands when he made a contested catch on a crossing route.
Gauge Alsen
Gauge Alsen
Alsen caught a 25-yard touchdown down the sidelines. He showed good speed around the corner on an end-a-round. He picked off an underthrown pass on the defensive side of the ball. Then, in a late-game series of three or four plays, he made multiple open-field tackles in the flat to prevent big gains.
Maxwell Griffieth
Maxwell Griffieth
Griffieth stuffed an off-tackle run for no gain. Then, he came off the edge, hit the quarterback for a sack, and forced a fumble.
