McCallie went on the road Friday evening to take on a battered Brentwood Academy team that gave them a solid contest but in the end, it was the state’s #1 ranked squad that came out on top 29-15, moving their undefeated record to 5-0.
The Blue Tornado took control early with an opening touchdown drive that took three plays with sophomore speedster Keeyshawn Schneider Keeyshawn Schneider 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH McCallie | 2026 TN taking the short pass from Jeremy St-Hilaire Jeremy St-Hilaire 6'4" | 220 lbs | QB McCallie | 2024 State TN and turning it into a 60 plus yard score. The native Canadian is a bonafide ball player with athleticism, speed and position versatility, so you can see why Colorado has offered and many others are interested.
After a couple of stalled drives, McCallie would get back on the board, going up 14-0 after a 14 yard touchdown run from senior back Javon McMahan Javon McMahan 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB McCallie | 2024 State TN . It was a heavy dose of McMahon and the Blue Tornado run game that you could see was wearing down the Eagles front seven as the 1st half continued to go on.
Brentwood Academy could have easily laid down and given up but they bounced back with the best offensive drive of the 1st half, capped off by a short yard touchdown run from senior running back Brax Belville Brax Belville 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Brentwood Academy | 2024 TN , bringing the score to 14-7.
That’s how the game would remain the rest of the half and into the locker room with McCallie going on offense to start the second period.
The Eagles were right there in the mix to start the 2nd half but after stalling on their opening drive, the Blue Tornado began to take over. A long play drive that took over five minutes, McCallie put in their third touchdown of the night to push the score out to 20-7. The extra point was blocked but you could smell the end for the home team.
After a field goal from McCallie to put the lead out to 23-7, Brentwood Academy was running out time but before the final whistle, the Eagles were able to find some juice behind the arm of George MacIntyre George MacIntyre 6'5" | 190 lbs | QB Brentwood Academy | 2025 State TN and his playmakers, especially Shavar Young, Jr Shavar Young, Jr 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Knox. Webb | 2026 State TN .
Young, Jr is one of the top college prospects from our #TN2026 class. His athleticism and speed were on full display in the 2nd half where his abilities were a key reason in the Eagles jumping back into contention.
MacIntyre and Young helped lead the Eagles down the field but it was junior running back Tamari Hill Tamari Hill 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Brentwood Academy | 2025 State TN who brought BA back to within eight at 23-15. His 10 yard touchdown run gave life to the Eagles but their defense needed a stop to keep the game going.
That stop didn’t happen as McCallie marched right down the field with McMahan racing into the end zone from 30 yards out for his 3rd rushing touchdown of the night. His score sealed the deal for the Blue Tornado as the clock would run out and the Chattanooga area program would achieve their fifth win of the season.
This was a gutsy win for McCallie as the Eagles are very talented and while they may be 1-4 now, they have dudes and players that can be difference makers. Players like Hill, Young, Jr and others flashed those skills on Friday night but McCallie was just too good to overcome.
Player of the Game
McMahan has been a man on a mission this season with possibly his best game yet coming Friday night in the Blue Tornado’s 29-15 win over Brentwood Academy. The McCallie senior back ran for 247 yards on the evening with three rushing touchdowns and was easily the MVP of the game as the Eagles had no answers for him nor good slow him down. McMahan capped off the night in the 4th quarter with a rushing score that saw him display excellent speed then run over defenders, carrying four Eagle players into the end zone. This guy is rising up the rankings in our next update and expect to see his recruitment take a spike up as well over the coming weeks.
Highlights
Other Top Performers
(LB) Carson Gentle – McCallie: Steady all night long off the edge, Gentle was as consistent as anyone on the field Friday night, constantly placing himself around the ball while being the shadow on MacIntyre, making sure he wouldn’t escape the pocket. This guy will see the field at Tennessee sooner than later in his college career.
(DB) Choosen Lokombe Choosen Lokombe 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB McCallie | 2024 State TN – McCallie: Lokombe was a menace against MacIntyre and the Eagles passing attack most of the evening. His play in the 1st half was huge as the Blue Tornado defensive back picked off two passes while also deflecting several others. Lokombe is a bit undersized but plays big and physical along with strong instincts.
(LB) A.J. Barbat A.J. Barbat 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Brentwood Acad. | 2024 State TN – Brentwood Acad.: A one man wrecking crew on the Eagles defense, Barbat was a bright spot Friday evening, displaying some edge speed and producing three sacks on the night. Mr. 3rd down, Barbat came up big on passing downs where he got into the backfield quickly and shut down several Blue Tornado drives.
‘25 (RB) Tamari Hill Tamari Hill 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Brentwood Academy | 2025 State TN – Brentwood Acad.: On several occasions throughout the game, Hill displayed his speed and natural athletic abilities that has Power Five programs interested and was one of a handful of players that McCallie had a hard time dealing with. Hill was stopped a few times but overall, he was hard to control Friday night as one of the lone playmakers that had to be paid attention to.
(DL) Olivier Camerlain Olivier Camerlain 6'6" | 260 lbs | DL McCallie | 2024 State TN – McCallie: You didn’t hear this guy’s name a lot on Friday night but that’s kind of a good thing as Camerlain did a great job of maintaining the edge all night and not allowing the BA backs to break containment and burst into the open field. Camerlain also made a few key stops in the 2nd half that helped push the team to victory.
