We are now getting a better understanding of which teams are truly talented, which teams may have had a lucky few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each week 5 game by conference for the 5A level. Up next is the Mid-Willamette Conference. Each game will have a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
Central (1-3) @ #2 West Albany (4-0)
Prediction: West Albany def. Central 49-14.
West Albany has been playing exceptionally well in the first four weeks of the season. Their impressive form is likely to continue this week. Central secured their first win last week against a strong Crescent Valley team. However, they face a formidable opponent in my second-ranked team in 5A just as they begin to gain momentum. West Albany’s Austin Simmons Austin Simmons 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Albany | 2025 State OR and Lukas Hews Lukas Hews 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB West Albany | 2024 State OR have been outstanding so far this year, and I expect them to maintain their impressive performances. It’s safe to predict that the Bulldogs will win with ease.

#3 Silverton (4-0) @ Corvallis (2-2)
Prediction: Silverton def. Corvallis 38-14.
Based on recent performances, Silverton should have Wilsonville feeling a bit uneasy about their chances of winning the 5A title. Silverton is on a winning streak and is expected to continue its success this week against Corvallis, who suffered a tough loss against Lebanon. Silverton has won most of their games comfortably this season, I don’t anticipate this matchup being very close. I’m eagerly anticipating Silverton’s game against West Albany on October 20th, as that should be their first real challenge.

#11 Dallas (2-2) @ Woodburn (0-4)
Prediction: Dallas def. Woodburn 35-7.
Last week, Dallas faced West Albany and although they tried their best, they were only able to score 15 points while surrendering 42 points. However, Dallas remains a strong team and should not face much difficulty in their upcoming game against Woodburn. Woodburn is currently in a rebuilding phase and it is hoped that they will soon be able to compete in this challenging conference.

Crescent Valley (2-2) @ #14 Mckay (3-1)
Prediction: McKay def. Crescent Valley 49-42.
This is an exciting game between two teams that have impressive skilled players who are expected to score a lot of points. I predict that the game will have a total of over 90 points, which shows how electrifying the offenses are. While I think that McKay has a better team and will win, Crescent Valley QB Rocco McClave Rocco McClave 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Crescent Valley | 2024 State OR could cause trouble for them if he gets comfortable in the pocket.
Players to watch:
South Albany (1-3) @ #15 Lebanon (1-3)
Prediction: Lebanon def. South Albany 31-20.
Before the season began, I had high expectations for Lebanon’s football team. They have some talented players in Hayden George Hayden George 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE Lebanon | 2024 State OR and Wyatt Wessel Wyatt Wessel 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Lebanon | 2024 State OR , and I thought they would do well. I was surprised to see them lose their first three games, even though they had a tough schedule. However, when they won against Corvallis, who had won two out of their three games, I was not surprised. I predict that Lebanon will finish with a 5-4 record, with their only loss coming in week 9 against Silverton. This should be enough to secure a spot in the playoffs. South Albany is also a decent team with good players, so they might give a good fight, but I still believe that Lebanon will win.
