In Game 2 of the Turf Kings tripleheader at Memorial Stadium, the West Charlotte Lions defeated Palisades 28-19. Let's take a look at some of the standout players in this game.

KD Smith - ATH - West Charlotte

Smith is known for his excellent athletic and dual threat ability from the QB position, which was on display as he was able to escape the pocket in passing situations and use his legs to pick up first downs. But, he really was impressive throwing the ball, as he had over 200 yards passing and a couple of touchdown passes in their victory. If the Lions are able to consistently throw all season, they will be a legitimate state title contender in the 3A Division.

Scottie Cooper - RB - West Charlotte

Cooper was able to move the ball on the ground efficiently with good speed and agility. I was really impressed with his vision and ability to set up his cuts off of blockers on the first and second level especially. He is a Class of 2024 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='378926' first='Davion' last='Jones'] - WR - West Charlotte

I've been impressed with Davion since seeing some video on him this summer, and he came on the scene big-time in this game. He caught a long touchdown pass for West Charlotte's final touchdown. On that play he showed some explosive speed and great hands, the same skills that have him down as one of the most impactful freshmen in the state of North Carolina.

[player_tooltip player_id='942286' first='DeQuinder' last='Williams'] - DB - West Charlotte

At 5'11 and 180 pounds, Williams helped the West Charlotte defense keep Palisades shut down for 3 and a half quarters on Saturday. Displaying good speed and coverage discipline, Williams will be a major key in the secondary for the Lions. After the game, Williams announced that he has committed to play college football at Charlotte, a huge get for the 49ers and we wish him congratulations on that decision!

Jayden Brown - WR - Palisades

At 6'1 and 170 pounds, Brown definitely jumped on the Charlotte High School Football scene in this game with some big catches and touchdown to help the Pumas rally in the fourth quarter and put some points on the board. Showing very good speed, agility, and route running, Brown will help keep defenses honest when Palisades wants to establish the run game behind their big offensive line. Brown is also a basketball player, and should jump onto some recruiting boards with his performance. He is a Class of 2024 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='918297' first='Joshua' last='Truesdale'] - DB - Palisades

At 6'3 and 170 pounds, Truesdale had an impressive interception from his safety position, high pointing the football with excellent hands. He is a Class of 2024 prospect with offers currently from NC Central and Livingstone. He also can play some wide receiver on offense. Expect for him to have a big senior season for an improved Pumas team overall.
