It’s no surprise that the Class of 2024 Minnesota Duluth commit had a monster performance for Barrington in Friday’s win over Warren. What is surprising is that Marusich’s dominance primarily came on offense. While the All-Conference player and Defensive MVP had a solid outing at defensive back, what stood out most of Marusich’s offensive performance. At wide receiver, he totaled 146 yards on 5 receptions and 3 touchdowns. He showcased his speed, athleticism, and soft hands all night. The true 2 way player was incredible impressive. Expect Marusich to continue his success throughout his senior season.
Highlights
The Class of 2024 defensive back is heading off to Purdue following his senior year. Before he leaves for West Lafayette, Bradford is ready to make some more noise in his final campaign. That’s exactly what the East St. Louis safety did on Saturday against Mount Carmel. The 6’0, 185 lbs playmaker lit up the stat sheet with 16 total tackles, including 12 solo tackles and 1 sack. Bradford is incredibly aggressive and physical, allowing him to get downhill in a hurry and fill in the run game. Not to mention he is as good as it gets in coverage. Look for Bradford to continue to make noise throughout his senior season.
Vinson led the state in passing yards on opening weekend. In one game, the senior quarterback threw for over half the yards that he did in 10 games last season. Totaling 413 passing yards, the 6’0 190 lbs signal caller from Belleville East put his name on the map. He impressed on every type of throw, including vertical balls, intermediate throws, passes on the run, and check downs. He can change his arm slots to put the ball only where his receivers can get it. With a record setting performance last week, keep an eye out for Vinson throughout the season.
Highlights
On Friday, Rumoro earned the first varsity start of his career against Metea Valley. Following his performance, the Geneva running back is beginning to turn heads. Rumoro rushed for 125 yards and 3 touchdowns, showing off his speed and agility all night. He measures in at 5’9, 175 lbs and runs with power and a shiftiness that makes Rumoro nearly impossible to bring down in a one-on-one situation. He has fantastic vision and balance, as this rising junior is sure to land on recruiting boards if he continues to build off of his strong opening night.
Highlights
Matt Murphy
Matt Murphy
Murphy started his senior season off with a strong defensive performance that saw him impact the game in a variety of ways. Murphy, a 6’1, 205 lb linebacker from Naperville North, totaled 9 tackles and 2 tackle for losses in the Huskies 35-21 win over Homewood Flossmoor. Murphy showcased his instincts and physicality all night, shooting open windows with urgency and knocking ball carriers backwards at the point of attack. Murphy’s stock is rising as his senior year gets underway.
